i love the moment when the whumpee takes a turn for the worse

they suddenly start coughing, their face turning red and blood spraying from their mouth
they’re fixing their eyes ahead, not responding to anything, and they’re starting to shake
their body goes limp and skin turns clammy and their breathing slows down
they start to convulse, tears running down their face, fingers grasping at whatever’s near them
all of a sudden they have a 105º fever and their face is flushed and sweaty
they are gasping and wheezing and clutching at their throat because they can’t breathe
their stitches rip, and now blood is soaking through their clothes, and they give a pained grunt as they look at their team, terrified
and now the alarms are going crazy, or the team is screaming for a medic, or their bedside is surrounded by doctors and nurses
