WE ARE LADY PARTS 1.04
Shoutout to my man Dr. James Barry for being the coolest guy ever, sexy, transgender, doing lots of good things for the medical field, and having the patience to not spring out of his grave and beat the shit out of the bitchass wikipedia editor who wrote "He possibly could've done this [transitioning] to enter the medical field"
me: i need to make contacts to do the things i want to do
me, every time i successfully get contacts: [distorted screeching noises in my brain makes it hard to do anything]
I know most of tumblr is thinking about the USA right now. but fuck the nz government right now too. tomorrow, the treaty principles bill, the 'worst, most comprehensive breach of Te Tiriti in modern times' is being introduced to parliament early, because there were activations planned country wide and the cowards decided to pull it forwards. fuck this government. a friend of mine had to go home early, crying. I've been in shock all day since it came out.
check on your Māori friends, e hoa mā. see what they need. see how you can help. everyday, we see and experience racism. from people around us, up to our government. community care will save us.
it passed its first reading today.
go to the hīkoi if you're in aotearoa.

check in on the Māori in your life. fund mutual aid for Māori. send us your aroha.
rewatched "getting married in buffalo jump" and it was much clearer to me on second viewing, because it's a great little story that just has slightly muddy pacing that rewards a rewatch!
anyway, annie and sophie sweetly domming alex is absolutely. a thing that needs to exist now. two very self-assured women who adore their strong, soft taciturn guy and said anxious, shy horse man who doesn't think he deserves nice things.....
the funniest thing you could put on there
me like "I'M CONNECTING THE DOTS!!!!" on this poly threesome about to blossom post-the-credits
we've got the fact that annie goes skinny dipping with both alex and annie on separate occasions (kinda suggested with the latter, but we do see her nude swimming and we are told they went swimming together and their hair is wet afterwards):
obviously we've got the fact that alex and annie have a child of course, so the three of them are very connected through the kid to begin with/are all very up for that
we've got annie and sophie casually talking about how hot alex is with one another
and then the whole... thing when annie and sophie first meet and annie a. becomes great friends with sophie subsequently and almost immediately, and b. subjectively seems like she really wants to make a move on her...
and then this whole bit of "everyone's Looking at one another while sophie plays footsie under the table and mostly alex is just very smiley and bashful but annie and sophie... oh they are Planning"
and just generally the way annie invites sophie into her life, not because of alex, but because she likes her very very much and they form a whole relationship independently of whatever either of them has/had going on with alex, whom they both clearly have deep feelings for as well (although they're also both very pragmatic women about the whole thing)
but yeah, that alex would expect to find sophie with annie, and that they clearly spend a lot of time together just the two of them doing similar things to what we've seen sophie and alex do....
the dots...............................................

watching a PG thing will go something like: "beautiful man is very competent in whatever field he's in. beautiful man appears in the narrative in a way where other people notice his first entrance and one of the first things noticed is how beautiful he is. beautiful man is in some way alienated from the community he is in due to the way he acts and/or his background. beautiful man is unhinged and power structures dislike him intensely for being very honest. beautiful man has a non-normative relationship to sex which stems from a variety of reasons explored in the narrative. main woman would really like to have sex with beautiful man but he's holding back for some reason or other. beautiful man is very very happy for main woman to take charge in all things though and will follow her lead. beautiful man enjoys getting manhandled. there may be ghosts (literal) or ghosts (metaphorical) but this is optional.

WITHNAIL & I (1987) dir. Bruce Robinson
IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) • JIMMY STEWART as George Bailey and LIONEL BARRYMORE as Mr. Potter
Concept: Vampire character that represents strengthening ties to humanity and the natural world instead of dividing them
Vampire gets HEAVILY invested in eco conservation because they *can't* just shrug it off as the next generation's problems
A vampire that goes around eating oil tycoons and clear-cut logging CEOs and climate-denying politicians because their childhood village is a dirt pit now and the animals they saw growing up have become endangered
Immortal guys who anonymously donate huge sums of cash to wildlife preserves that oversee forests they used to hunt in
Fellow who, instead of succumbing to the boredom and waste of infinite time, has become feverishly obsessed with making sure this one specific species of snail will still be around in another hundred years
5000 year old woodsman who can still mimic the calls of extinct birds, who still remembers the mating calls of mammoths and wooly rhinos and wild horses
Ancient vampire who can still vaguely recall a cave somewhere with her whole family's hand prints in it, and not sure of it's precise location, keeps the whole area void of human activity so it doesn't become a tourist attraction
Vampire archeologist who digs up their old friend's remains and has the figure out how to prove, with evidence, how they know exactly who they were and what they looked like
Immortal anthropologist who reconstructs a face from a skull only to realize that they'd met them before a long, long time ago
