A lot of the people not voting for McCarthy are very... Trump. So yeah I also hate Kevin McCarthy but not for the same reason these people do. They think he's not conservative enough. I know I won't like whoever they pick because I'm a progressive, but I would personally like a functioning government if that's alright. They could solve this problem today, or it could take months. The Republicans have such a slim majority right now that it only takes five of them to mess up everyone's plans and there's more than five causing a disturbance right now.

He lost the second vote too. Confusion continues. No word yet on whether or not they’ll try a third vote today or wait until tomorrow. From what I can see on the news cameras it looks like the democrat leaders are laughing.

Whether they solve today or not I think it’s clear to everyone that the Republicans got a very slim majority and then on their first day back in power tripped over their own feet with literally a once in a century blunder.

Third vote and we’re not even through the letter C in roll call and he’s already lost enough votes to need a fourth vote.

They keep voting for Jim Jordan (R, Ohio) even though he’s said several times that he doesn’t want to be speaker lol

It’s even worse than last time. Someone needs 218 votes to win. Not happening, it seems.

Kevin just lost the 5th vote. The defectors appear to be voting for Byron Donalds (R, Florida) now.

Six failed votes now. They’re taking a break until 8pm ET.

Let’s hope this doesn’t go on long enough that I have to turn this into weekly updates.
