this was given to retail owners as a promotional comic book to get them to order advance copies of Marvel’s newly announced Marvel 2099 line of characters. this cover is the first actual appearance of the characters pictured on the cover. the characters showed up in back-up previews for their soon to launch titles in the months that followed, but this was the first time Marvel published an image of these characters.
