Ares vs. the Sentry by Olivier Coipel

People give me weird looks when I say that the Sentry is the best character created in the last 15 years.

What makes me say that is the fact that a great character does not necessarily have a scary power set -but the Sentry's powers just allowed him to rip the actual God of War in half like he was stick of celery- its not necessary. What makes him great is that he is a lens. He is a magnifying glass on the characters around him. Look what happened when he was on the Avengers:

Steve Rogers got Bob Reynolds to help, Tony Stark used him to help enforce the Registration, and Norman Osborne used him to enforce his rule of the country. Steve wanted a secret weapon to help the most people. Tony wanted a secret weapon to win an argument. Norman wanted a secret weapon to control the world.

He is a lens.

Tom Hanks once told someone that Fame does not change you, it just magnifies who you are. Bob Reynolds was a stupid junkie that stole a formula that magnified who he is 1,000,000 times. The result is that he is a character that does the same thing to everyone around him. It is why he locked himself up. He knew that people would want to him to help, and that it would become the situation at the end of Siege. He knew it, but it happened anyway.

Marko Djurdjevic ~ Random Marvel Artwork that Kicks Ass: -a "Thanos Rising" Variant. -a Character Design for Werewolf by Night. -a "Thor: Ages of Thunder" cover. -a "Women of Marvel Variant", featuring Marvel Girl. -an "Iron Man by Design" variant. -I don't know where this is from. It looks really cool though. -the Connected Covers for a Siege Tie-In miniseries. -I think that was Daredevil # 500. -the Cover for "the Marvel art of Marko Djurdjevic". -a Cover from "Magneto: Testament". BTW: Read that right now.
