‘Loki and his Horde of Chaos’, by Mike Mignola.
Very early Mignola. I think this was from 1981 or 1982. I forget where I found this.
Superhero Karaoke, Volume 8: Thor can’t sing. At all. He went to the bar anyways, and Loki was there for some other party. One thing lead to another Thor just like… kept doing shots. But they weren’t shots. They were highballs. Full cocktails of straight Whiskey with a little cherry. And Loki kept getting him to order them. They cut him off (finally!) at Seven-fucking-teen. 17 full glasses of whiskey in like an hour and half. Ugh. Loki was cackling. Anyways. It got to be Thor’s turn, and he just like grabbed the mike and rambled about Sif’s butt for like 10 minutes. No, 10 whole minutes. They timed it. She was sooooo PISSED. Thor tried to pull that “I have duties on Asgard crap” the next morning, but Sif brought him to the mansion. He had a black eye.
Marvel Treasury Edition, Vol. 1 # 03 Pages 54-55, by John Buscema.
the pinup was recently flipped and recolored by Morry Hollowell, and then Marvel published it as a variant cover for Thor, Vol. 6 # 01.
They did a good job with the recoloring: it’s faithful to the original, unlike a lot of recolors of old comic book art.
John Buscema is (rightfully) revered by just about everyone in the industry. Recoloring John Buscema or Jack Kirby is a labor of love. And Morry Hollowell is fantastic. He’s been making Steve McNiven look good since they came up together at Crossgen.
Loki, Odin, and Thor by John Paul Leon.
Fandral the Swordsman by Jack Kirby. *I am not sure who blue-line inked the sketch - I found the images on my pinterest scroll over the weekend, with no further credits listed - so please reblog this with proper credit if you can, because whoever Inked this did a very nice job!*
TumblrFrostbite's AU Question: If the Wonder Woman characters (or rather, if The Olympians, WW and the other Amazons) had ALWAYS lived in the Marvel Universe and it's vice versa with the Thor cast (with Thor, the other Asgardians and other Norse mystical/mythological beings) HAVING ALWAYS existed in the DCU, how different would those chars lives be in this scenario?
Honestly, not much different. The interesting thing about Polytheism is that aspect of reality has its own specific deity. Thor is the God of Thunder, heir apparent to the throne of Asgard, and the Half-Brother of Loki, God of Mischief.
Thor’s actions are inherently heroic and noble, Loki’s are inherently duplicitous and underhanded. Asgard is not another planet or galaxy. It is another dimension of reality. For Asgardians, Midgard is but one of the Nine Realms they watch over and govern. If Thor went to Midgard one day and found the JLA’s headquarters in place of Avenger’s Mansion, Thor would still be Thor. He would probably look for a way back to the version of Midgard he knows, but he would eventually decide the DCU was Midgard, and he’d be back to business as usual.
I wonder how Thor’s powers would effect the SHAZAM family powers? Especially if the DCU Reality realigned itself to accept the presence of the Asgardians as part of the natural order. Hmm…
Likewise, “Wonder Woman” is just what the press calls her.
Diana of Themyscira is the Princess of the Amazonian realm of Themyscira. The Greek Gods protected the Amazons by moving them out of shift with the surrounding reality. In other words, Themyscira is in a different dimension. And Diana is the Themysciran ambassador to the world of Men.
