the Fantasy Worlds of Alex Nino Portfolio.

Oh man, this must be the first time I have heard or seen of this illustrator. I like your taste in content, mostly, so thanks for keeping up the work for years by now @ungoliantschilde

Glad you like it!

I post artwork that I like, and I use the tags constantly.

Go to my page and select Alex Nino to see more of his work in the past, and then look up who’s worked with.

I also take requests.

Alex Nino artwork - Weird War Tales #13, April 1973

Alex Nino did many pages for DC Comics in the seventies, principally in the various 'mystery' books and at Weird War Tales. Nino eventually migrated to Conan artwork for the black and white Marvel magazines.

The script by Arnold Drake uses a plot mechanism that was repeated in many other stories during the run of Weird War Tales: a commanding officer (or ruler) ends up disguised as a regular soldier (or refugee, as in this tale) and finds out what it is like to be on the receiving end of all the mayhem and bloodshed caused by powermad leaders.

Nino has a loose and smooth cartoon styling. His word balloons were unique in that they reverberate with alternating line widths, something rarely done in comics where uniformity of the container holding the written text is almost universal.
