I suspect the DCEU will take Ibac really seriously and do away with the Stinky Printwhistle ID altogether. I bet ya Ibac will show up in the Black Adam movie during ancient times as a warlord like he was in the new 52. Although to be fair that wasn't "our" Ibac. That was Ibac the First. The first to claim that power or some nonsense.
That could be interesting. I’ve no idea what to expect from the Black Adam movie. It’s sounding sort of like JSA meets Suicide Squad. Seeing Ibac would be cool.
The most interesting version of Black Adam is the time period when he was on friendly terms with the JSA.
Teth Adam was chosen as SHAZAM’s champion for a reason. In his time, Teth was a heroic figure. But, the Hammurabic Code is no longer considered ethical. So Teth was banished. He -perhaps rightfully- resents that punishment. Imagine being banished to the far reaches of existence because the guy who gave you your powers doesn’t like you anymore. Then, it -seriously- takes you 5,000 years to get back home. 5,000 years of flying through space at top speed. You get home and meet your replacement.
And it’s a 10 year old kid.
Like, milkshakes for lunch. Playing with toys in a sandbox. Billy is a nice kid. Maybe the nicest kid you’ve ever met. But he’s fucking TEN. And the Wizard picked a kid over the greatest champion of justice the Ancient World had ever known.
Ever read the Superman/Shazam: First Thunder mini? When Superman finds out what the Wizard did to Billy, he is PISSED. Not Jim Lee gritting teeth because it looks cool as a poster pissed. No. Superman is “Best man in the world just found out that an immortal wizard with the wisdom of the ages arbitrarily chose a 10 year old orphan boy to be a crime fighting superhero because that immortal Wizard just likes hanging out with Billy Batson” PISSED.
Now imagine a guy who actually earned the title of SHAZAM by being a genuine force for good, albeit with a morality that is 5-6,000 years out of date. And that Ancient Egyptian badass now has to continuously fight a 10 year old boy. And the kid beats him regularly.
Oh, and more to the point: Ibac, Isis, and so forth? They are all part of Teth’s SHAZAM family. Every SHAZAM has a family of champions.
PISSED.
