I strongly advise against watching this film while under the influence. The book, and by extension the film, is about the darker side of the drug culture of the 60s and 70s. Both the book and the movie are fantastic, but it freaked me right the fuck-out when I watched it stoned.

Howard Pyle's Book of Pirates is WELL worth the time to read! Interesting Trivia: Johnny Depp & Gore Verbinski kept a copy of that book on set during the filming of Pirates of the Caribbean. Look at the outfits. They look familiar, don't they? There's a reason.
