Episode 9: The Lost Worlds of Planet Earth, Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey

so much hope and aspiration can be found by simply allowing ourselves to see beyond the confines of our own limitations. looking to the skies has been a unifying theme for all of humanity, throughout all of history. predictably, it has lead to both discovery and derision. fear and faith have been affirmed in equal measure by gazing upwards. it therefore follows that part of reality is our individual perception thereof. we each can see the universe in accordance with how we want to see it.

look with hope, and you will find it.

I am reminded of a story about two people walking down a beach that was littered with starfish. the tide had brought the starfish ashore and left them stranded. one of the two people started to pick up the starfish and place them back in the water. the other person asked, ‘why are you doing that? there are too many. we cannot possibly hope to make a difference.’

the person that was picking up the starfish did not break their stride, they simply continued to pick up the starfish and put them back in the water and answered, 'that is true, I cannot save all of them. but, it will certainly make a big difference to the ones that I am able to help.’

I agree with this sign.

I also think that if men are going to continue to write laws attempting to legislate a woman’s body, I think that a law should be instituted where any man convicted of sexual assault is castrated before going to prison. Not chemical castration, either. I think if that went hand-in-hand with every single Anti-Abortion Law, things would change rather quickly.

If you have a problem with my opinions on this matter, I suggest that you remind yourself of some crucial facts:

-As of 2012, the Gender Ratio for the United States of America is 1.05 Women for every Man.

-There are more Women than Men in our own country, and the same trend is mostly true worldwide.

-Women make up around 50-52.5% of the population, and they control 100% of the wombs.

Given the above information, I find a profound lack of intellect or forethought in Abortion Legislation.

Blade Runner (1982) All he’d wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got?

In my opinion, Deckard was a replicant. He had all of the same mementos as Rachel and Leon did. No personal info is given about Deckard, but he definitely reacts to things with the same range of emotions as Roy, Leon, Pris, and especially Rachel.

Any takers? Thoughts? Opinions??

~ATLANTIS~ The lost island of Atlantis was actually first mentioned in Plato's "Republic" and was not located in the Atlantic, if it even existed. It was probably a mythological city he used to illustrate his ideal version of a perfect society. The picture I posted is actually of some islands in the Bahamas. Obviously, the brown, tan, and green areas are the land masses. The dark blue is really deep water, and the light blue is not so deep. Notice how steep the drop off is? I've been fishing down there many times. The areas surrounding all of the islands are often times stretching for miles of flat, shallow water areas. Like, 10-15 deep at most. All around. There are troughs of deeper water in between the larger gaps of the islands, but a lot of it is very, very shallow. They've even found things like Clay pots, fallen down stone structures, and other signs of human civilization that are too far removed from the current land masses to have been brought there and fallen. At one point in the Planet's History, the Bahamas were most likely a single land mass. It was probably a marshland, but it was a lot more connected above the water than it is now. And, if you look at the way the continents fit together (Pangea), there's a section missing that the area of the Bahamian Islands would have filled. Conclusions: 1. Atlantis -if it existed- was Pre-Hellenic (before Greek Civilization) and located in the Mediterranean. 2. The Bahamian Islands were probably a unified land mass at some point in Human History.
