Your responses to questions about the creative process always interest me, so here’s hoping you answer this sooner rather than later. You just posted a preview of Defenders, with 2 pages of a bone-crunching Iron Fist Vs. Elektra fight by Marquez and Ponsor. How do you go about scripting something like that? How much of that is you and how much of it is Dave just being awesome? The pacing on those pages is incredible.
most of the time, 99 per cent of the time, I do full script, beat by beat, panel by panel.
but @davidmarquez and I have been trying to loosen things up AND he is a martial artist. so I explained by premise fr the fight. and the pacing of the fight and what the fight means and the subtext.
every page has a different panel tempo that builds out wider and wider. he did it perfectly. you’ll see its full effect in the next issue.

Damn... that’s really well done. That’s one of the best fight scenes I can remember.
Just got the green light that I can share this. Here’s a quick piece I finished last month (sans logo and text) as a cast and crew gift for the Defenders team.

some Ed McGuinness artwork with Inks by Dexter Vines.
Ed and Dex (aka “EDEX”) are amongst my all-time favorite penciler and inker teams. they seem to continually bring out the best in each other.
