the Lady GaGa Album, “ARTPOP”, had cover artwork, promotional imagery, sculptures and packaging designed by Jeff Koons.
Frank Kelly Freas’s cover art to Queen’s 1977 album, News of the World.
It was based on his own cover to Astounding Science Fiction (October 1953), which had caught the eye of drummer Roger Taylor.

The Embedded Jungle.
Cover illustration for the Argentinian Stoner/Psychedelic band Fabricantes (The Makers) new album La Selva Incrustada (The Embedded Jungle), really fun job, and always a pleasure to work with friends.
Done in Photoshop CS6

Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell, working under the art studio umbrella of “Hipgnosis” created the album art for some notable albums. Pink Floyd’s concept-album masterpiece, ‘the Dark Side of the Moon’, is one of their most notable.
George Hardie, another U.K. artist, created the last two images, which were actually published as stickers on the first pressing of the album (The ones you are seeing in this post were not easy to find, because they were never stuck to anything:)
The blue “Pyramids” poster is the European and International Release version. It also featured a different version of the concert photo “Elements” poster, with the images aligned vertically. The green “Pyramids” poster came folded into six squares, so as to slide into the album sleave. Consequently -with all the posters- the first prints came folded. Be aware of the differences, because a nice, playable vinyl from the first pressing can set you back $70-80, and that’s without the posters.

thanks to http://gruono.tumblr.com for pointing out that the Jean "Moebius" Giraud painting that I posted yesterday is not, as a matter of fact, called 'Venturing into the Night'. It was commissioned as the cover artwork for the French-Canadian singer, Lucid Beausonge's album "Fugueur".
Ethan Van Sciver and Moose Baumann did the album art for "Winger IV". I really debated posting this because, um, it's a Winger album, and Winger is like a bad Whitesnake ripoff.
Album art for Led Zeppelin's "In Through the Outdoor". The art is by Hipgnosis. This is part 2 of 2, featuring the back of the outer sleave, and the front and back covers of the last 3 of the six variant covers,
