Benjamin Franklin was born January 6-17 (exact date in dispute) of 1705, died on April 17, 1790. He was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.
He was a renowned polymath:
A leading author-he wrote a lot of stuff. Just… Look it up.
A newspaper printer-he created a Newspaper in Philly, and was published in the Boston Newspaper as a teenager, writing under the pen name of “Silence Dogood".
A political theorist-helped write & outline the U.S. Constitution.
A politician-President of Pennsylvania.
A postmaster-He was instrumental in the creation of the U.S. Postal Service. Next time you bitch about the USPS, think about this: it costs less than a dollar to mail a letter from NYC to LA, and it will get there in less than a week. In comparison, sending a letter across town in Tokyo costs about $5.00. Think about it.
A scientist-he didn’t ‘discover electricity’. He just proved that lightning IS electricity. He also was a major contributor the “American Enlightenment" period, especially in the field of physics.
A musician-Violin, I believe. Amongst other instruments.
An inventor-Flexible Catheters, the lightning rod, bifocals, the Franklin stove, a carriage odometer, and the glass harmonica, and a variety of others.
A satirist-he wrote some funny shit. (Basically taking pop-shots at King George.)
A civic activist-during the Revolutionary War, the U.S. lost Boston. Yes, we did. Under the command of General George Washington, the Continental Army repelled the British Forces, and retook Boston. Boston was Franklin’s hometown, and he was fighting in the streets when Washington kicked the British out.
A statesman and diplomat-As I said before, he was the President of Pennsylvania, he was also the ambassador to France.
