Important Reminder:
Lebanon is still going through a social, health, political and economic crisis.
- The lebanese currency has lost more than 80% of its value, and since the countrys economy is heavily dependent on the exchange rate with the US dollar and over 80% of its products are imported, the prices of basic necessities (food, etc..) have and are still rapidly increasing every day.
- The World Bank estimated in 2019 that over 48% of Lebanese citizens lived below the poverty line.
- The Covid-19 pandemic, with lack of efficient governmental response and underfunded healthcare, has worsened the country's state.
- The heavy corruption of the lebanese government that caused a failure to improve the economy, deteriorated living conditions and extreme income inequality.
- The explosion that utterly destroyed Beirut and resulted in 3 to 5 billion in damages with 300,000+ people becoming homeless.
The problems that Lebanon and its people are facing are endless, there are way more and the list lengthens everyday. So just because your timeline isn't talking about Lebanon anymore doesn't mean that everything is back to normal.
Please consider donating to the red cross (the only reliable source, all the rest go through the governmennt, and also, petitions do not work in the middle east). Don't stop spreading awareness.
P.S: Like I said, the lebanese pound is pretty much worthless, so donating with another currency would be best.
