Jamie xx’s “Untitled” track, attached to his new “Live at Night + Day Berlin” is the sound of a mind collapsing like a cheap plastic cup from the strain of all night club-hopping between house music DJ nights. Disembodied and slightly scrambled, the track floats above the revelatory atmosphere it generates, applying tension between clashing elements, like the percolating strings and soulful chants, or the choirs processed to dreamy oblivion and the nearly robotic shuffle.

James Blake Remixes Drake's 'Come Thru'

James Blake loves a rap remix. After his recent collaborative track, 'Life Round Here' with Oyster #103 interviewee Chance The Rapper, the croony Brit can't keep away. He's just released a new remix of Drake's Nothing Was The Same dark horse track, 'Come Thru.' While the original track is silky smooth, Blake takes it to a slightly darker place — amping up the synth and giving the song a more looming, heavier feeling.

Here’s how you do effortless cool: Blouse’s “A Feeling Like This.” Each element iss just so casual and breezy, seemingly capable of deflecting any of life’s slings and arrows. But they’re justified with layers of disparate vitality: dreamy psychedelia in the vocals, pop propulsion in the drums, and warm guitar melodies gently phased with strange water drops. It’s the same vibe Stereolab nailed that’s replicated here, but without the synths. Still feels pretty French, though. Imperium is out September 17th on Captured Tracks.
