Toshio Maeda for Supreme 2015 Fall/Winter Video
Following the full look at the Toshio Maeda for Supreme 2015 fall/winter collection, we now have the accompanying video interview of the artist himself going through his inspirations. Most Toshio Maeda fans will be familiar with his infamous work in 1986 titled, Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend, which established him as the pioneer of the genre known as Hentai. The artist goes on to say how he started drawing Manga at the age of 10 after his big brother taught him how to draw, as well as how he tries to organize his storylines around a unique character he creates.The full collection will release on November 27, while Japan will see a November 28 release.
Saint Laurent Drops Limited Edition Skateboards & Surfboards
As part of their Spring/Summer 2016 delivery, Saint Laurent have designed a series of skateboards and surfboards. Dubbed the “Surf Sound” collection, the range boasts 300 limited edition skateboards and 80 surfboards. Various patterns, graphics and color combinations have been utilized throughout the line, featuring tie-dye looks and leopard and zebra prints.
The “Surf Sound” selection will be available exclusively at Saint Laurent stores as well as online.
Red Bull's "Checkmate" Skate Video Explores the World of Opposites
Red Bull skateboarding’s German contingent were on hand to wreak havoc on a monochromatic obstacle course in a new video titled “Checkmate.” Outfitted in all black and white ensembles, Jost Arens and Vladik Scholz showed off some of their tricks in this experimental clip, which explored the world of polar opposites in a unique studio setting. The end product is pretty amazing and mind-bending at the same time.
Palace Skateboards Announces Collaboration with Bronze 56k
Shortly after having successfully launched its most recent collaboration with adidas Originals, Palace Skateboards has announced its upcoming team-up with New York skate brand Bronze 56k. Both known for their 90s lo-fi and low-brow iconography, the collaboration completely makes sense to us and we cannot wait to see what the two have cooked up. It looks like the Palace Skateboards x Bronze 56k collaboration will release on June 15. Soon we should be able to show you more.
'HEAVEN' Chronicles the Rise and Fall of Professional Skateboarder Lennie Kirk
Photographer Dennis McGrath releases his first book HEAVEN, which documents the life and times of American professional skateboarder Lennie Kirk, who started his skate career at 16 years old in the early ’90s and is currently serving 13 years in jail. Designed by Ed Templeton, the 134-page hardcover book is a visual project that spans 20 years-worth of work and is a compilation of old letters, photographs and passages from those close to the fearless Kirk that give testament on the skater who became infamous for his wild antics and troubled life. Supporting photography is provided by the likes of Patrick O’Dell, Jonathan McGrath, Keith Hufnagel and Gary Van DeGriek. Only 1,000 limited first-edition copies are being released. Jacob Harmer's 'Skate' Featuring Theo de Gueltz
Skate is Jacob Harmer‘s latest short film, an atmospheric look at the beauty of skateboarding through the eyes of French artist, model and lifelong skater Theo de Gueltz. Shot on a foggy day in London, the piece follows de Gueltz as he skates the city and narrates the experience of transcending the present through the act of skating.
