Versace Hotel Opens in Dubai
Italian fashion house Versace has opened a luxury hotel in the capitalist mecca of Dubai. The suitably titled Palazzo Versace comes equipped with 215 rooms, a 1000-square-meter mosaic marble floor in the lobby, and is being billed as “the most luxurious that the Middle East has ever seen.” Check out the gallery and head here to price up a stay.
Cyril Porchet - Seduction
For this work, I systematically photographed the altars of Baroque churches in Germany, Spain and Austria. I selected these churches not only for their pure exuberance, but also for the saturation level of their ornamentation, composed of decorative, figurative and symbolic elements.This profligacy of splendor stuns the senses and, at first glance, produces an effect tending towards abstraction. The observer loses his references and only after is he able to begin differentiating the concrete elements composing the whole. The optical flatness produced by the camera looks like and references the “trompe l’oeil” technique often used in this type of architecture.

Anna Karenina has released a new clip online, in which director Joe Wright introduces the audience to some of the filming techniques used to capture the cavernous and dilapidated theatre where much of the film was shot. As Wright explains, the shoot took place amid more than 100 interconnected sets, allowing cameras to move from one room to the next between entirely different settings, creating a greater sense of fluidity. As for the clip itself, it’s suitably spectacular, as Keira Knightley’s Anna attends an extremely lavish society occasion, attended also by Aaron Johnson’s Vronsky and Jude Law’s Karenin.
