When I am trying to explain what in my opinion makes art so powerful and people so attracted to artists, I think of the ocean at night. The sound of the waves, the darkness, the sensation of water rising and falling at your hips. I mention this and you can feel in your body what it is like to be near the ocean at night, but only because you remember, not because these words capture the feeling.

This is an example of something extremely difficult to express in conversation. Art, however, can cross these barriers that separate us. It doesn’t rely on your memory, for it can reach inside and stir something within. Poetry, photography, music, film — these things can make you feel what simple, unaffected language cannot. This is why artists are so attractive. They seem to know more, feel more and feel more deeply, even though they do not. We all feel deeply in our way.

Just an ordinary trip down the grocery store was full of adventure . They were always laughing at stupid things. They liked making love and they didn’t much care for anything else because all they wanted to do was be with each other. They were always together and he, he loved her more than he ever felt possible.
