Bass 'Weejun' Spring 2015 Lookbook
Kings of the Penny Loafer, Bass introduced the Weejun back in the ’30s, a play on the Norwegian farm shoe. The ultimate preppy slip-on became an instant classic, “from strolling the college campus, to promenading with pomp on Kings Road, to a certain dance known as the moonwalk.” G.H. Bass & Co, a Maine outfit founded in 1876 by a Mister George Henry Bass, still continue along the bench made path, hand stitching those trademark beefrolls one by one. Here, the classic loafer is placed in contemporary context for Spring 2015, ever the modernist favourite, by Buffalo icon, stylist Barry Kamen. Men’s and Women’s standards include a rather nice tassel selection and those familiar shades of burgundy, tan and black. Timeless.
