Dior Homme 2016 Summer "Stranger in a Room" Campaign Film

Dior Homme’s 2016 summer campaign and accompanying film, “Stranger in a Room,” is an intimate and piercing portrayal of personalities. Here, singer and lyricist Oliver Sim, actor Alain-Fabien Delon, artist Rinus Van de Velde and model Victor Nylander play versions of themselves in a longstanding collaborative project between the brand’s creative director, Kris Van Assche, and photographer Willy Vanderperre. Jamie xx’s melodic post-dubstep track, featuring the vocals of fellow xx bandmate Oliver Sim, further invites us on this poignant journey into the brand’s spirit.

Jamie xx Play “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” Live at Glastonbury

What a night it was for Jamie xx as thousands in attendance lost their minds when he took that stage; and for added effect, it was during sunset which only heightened the Jamie xx experience for those in attendance at Park Stage. He played a number of cuts including "Loud Places" with his bandmate Romy and of course his summer hit with Thugger, "Good Times," which started off with the original sample and then soon transitioned into the latter.

PMA: Jamie xx’s In Colour, Reviewed

Producer Jamie Smith, otherwise known as Jamie xx, is one of the most quietly influential artists of the last decade. The xx’s self-titled 2009 debut brokered a brilliant one-night stand between trip-hop and late-Aughts indie pop. A relationship further consummated by We’re New Here, Jamie xx’s 2011 collaboration with Gil Scott-Heron. It was a gorgeous 21st century sound — reverb suffused with breakbeats, pregnant pauses preempted by disembodied vocal samples, silence as a crucial musical instrument. This was Noir & B. A new musical language of intimacy, both in sound and in content. Since then—from Rihanna to Drake to London Grammar—that aesthetic has become a critical component of modern pop songcraft. The natural culmination of his prior successes, Jamie xx’s solo debut In Colour is his most mesmerizing and hauntingly beautiful work yet.

Jamie xx - Untitled (Unreleased)

Jamie xx’s “Untitled” track, attached to his new “Live at Night + Day Berlin” is the sound of a mind collapsing like a cheap plastic cup from the strain of all night club-hopping between house music DJ nights. Disembodied and slightly scrambled, the track floats above the revelatory atmosphere it generates, applying tension between clashing elements, like the percolating strings and soulful chants, or the choirs processed to dreamy oblivion and the nearly robotic shuffle.

The xx - “Sunset” (Jamie xx Edit)

Lizzy Mercier Descloux is an awesome French pop singer, and her video for “Fire” is now also the video for Jamie xx‘s edit of The xx‘s “Sunset,” plus some awkward edits to dub over the vocals.  If you have any weird striped pants-suit things lying around, now would be the time to wear them to the club. Yes, right now. Leave work early and go to the club.
