Costume National Fall/Winter Collection MFW 2013
Costume National designer Ennio Capasa channels London’s youth for the 2013 fall/winter collection. Capasa’s latest collection sees the designer forgo embellishment for a cleaner, tougher look — think lots of black, leather, and slim silhouettes. Punctuating the looks are David Bowie-esque dramatic fedoras which managed to toe the fine line between edgy and embellished. Breaking up the dark palette are several pieces in whites and vibrant blues, but dark and edgy remains the name of the game. Highlights for us include the double-faced black and white overcoats and the slick-looking leather pieces. Look for the collection at international stockists later this year.

First Looks: David Bowie Retrospective at London's V&A Museum
Next spring, London's V&A museum will mount David Bowie Is, a major retrospective that will explore his creative processes "as a musical innovator and cultural icon" over the past five decades. More than 300 objects will be on show, including handwritten lyrics, original costumes, musical instruments and album artwork.
The show runs from March 23 to July 28, and will include Ziggy Stardust costumes designed by Freddie Burretti in 1972; costumes from the 1973 Aladdin Sane tour, designed by Kansai Yamamoto; and Bowie and Alexander McQueen’s collaborative Union Jack coat, as worn on the 1997 Earthling cover. There’s also fashion photography from the likes of Herb Ritts, Helmut Newton and John Rowlands. Check out the slideshow for a preview of some of the show’s most noteworthy exhibits.
SNOWDON BLUE
Today Acne will release its latest collaboration, an ode to the blue shirt, a book with sixty portraits by London born photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, better known as Lord Snowdon. It will be a beautiful collection of blue shirts inspired by those worn by the famous people in Snowdon’s portraits, including Ralph Fiennes, Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson, Graham Greene, Sidney Nolan, Manolo Blahnik, Agatha Christie, Tony Blair, David Bowie, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, to mention a few. Today, the shirt collection and the book, assembled and edited by Snowdon’s youngest daughter, Frances von Hofmannsthal, will be presented together with an exhibition of portraits at the Acne Studios London, and will travel to Paris, Stockholm and New York.
