The Vaccines - The Interview and Behind the Scenes VIDEO
"It's weird. I used to live on the road just over there. I was always aware of this amazing building being here, but I never imagined I'd ever have a reason to enter it." Dressed in effortless indie attire - black Chelsea boots, skinny jeans and T-shirt - Mr Justin Young sits on a marble doorstep opposite the iconic Maida Vale recording studios. It's the release day of The Vaccines' second album, Come of Age and lazing in the early autumn sun is a front man with an attitude that's as punchy as his choruses. "We just want to be as big as we possibly can be. I just think, we're here now - I don't know what's going to happen next year, but tomorrow's going to be fun." From posting raucous debut "If You Wanna" on YouTube in 2011, to a hit first album on Columbia Records (What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? became the biggest-selling debut by a band in the UK in 2011), and today's live sessions for BBC Radio 1 - the West Londoners have come a long way. Their story of success is a familiar one. After Mr Young and guitarist Mr Freddie Cowan met on a summer's day in 2009 to experiment with some instruments, they simply "went on a roll". Critics and radio DJs heralded their first track, a debut London show in late 2010 sold out instantly, and they became darlings of the British music press, touted as leaders of a new wave of guitar music akin to New York rockers The Strokes.

Liars - Brats VIDEO
If you’ve ever done any form of beta testing (because techies form the bulk of our readership), the latest video from Liars will probably bring back the frustrations of ill-formed games, though thankfully you only watch the chaos ensue instead of trying to play the thing. Taken from their latest electronic record WIXIW, “Brats” is a perennially crashing tech demo of goopy flittering animation, which takes the well-worn turf of a hunter and his basset chasing down a humanized rabbit into buggy extremes. The band also pops up as discombobulated glitchy messes of poorly formed polygons, ending the video on a hilariously anti-climactic note of mushy avatars writhing on the ground.
Radiohead - Bodysnatchers
Axl Rose pens letter to Rock Hall: won't attend, declines induction.
“I won’t be attending The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction 2012 Ceremony and I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N’ Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf. Neither former members, label representatives nor the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame should imply whether directly, indirectly or by omission that I am included in any purported induction of “Guns N’ Roses”.”
Vinyl Williams - Chroma Heart VIDEO
Imagine if you could hold onto those vivid, fleeting images that you see right before sleeping, after a day of eating sugary cereal and watching fantasy cartoons. The video captures them, starting like a 3D Viewmaster tour of long dead civilizations before transferring some psychedelic found footage transmitted through frayed wires, before ending in some comparatively dull Google Maps traipsing. Though that morph thing that happens when you move between Street View tiles is pretty cool.
Kraftwerk Retrospective at MOMA – Night 1/Autobahn
The MOMA in New York City hosted the first of eight nights celebrating the 35 year of music from Germany’s avante-garde electronic outfit, Kraftwerk. The “Kraftwerk Retrospective 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8” is celebration and study of eight Kraftwerk recordings as well as the accompanying 3-D visuals – performed in their entirety – one per evening.
Night one of the Retrospective focused on the ~42 minute “Autobahn” album which sounded spectacular on a sound system. Sonically, fans of Kraftwerk and music will not be disappointed with the crisp, black, and clear sound – balanced and tuned for these very performances. We salute MOMA and Kraftwerk for a strong focus on the sound environment.
For those attending the remaining shows of the eight night Retrospective, prepare to be sonically and visually impressed. With less than 500 tickets sold and distributed for each night, those in attendance will find the room both spacious and respecting of the performance.
