KIDULT Delves Into Hate, Racism and Mental Slavery in “Funeral Fanfare”

Well-known artist KIDULT is no stranger in expressing his various political views and standpoints. Upon spray painting the N-word across Paris’s A.P.C. store, he is back to release a pensive visual – titled “Funeral Fanfare” – surrounding the recent onslaught of police brutality cases, ISIS, and the Charleston church shooting, amongst other controversial and devastating events. In addition to featuring select news clips from the aforementioned situations, KIDULT himself speaks on hate, racism and mental slavery, then urging individuals to be open minded and to in turn think for themselves.

A.P.C. Opens Los Angeles Flagship on Melrose Avenue

It seemed only a matter of time that French superbrand A.P.C. might open its doors to its West Coast audience. The popular label has just premiered a new location in sunny Los Angeles, taking to the boutique-y cove of Melrose Place between Melrose Avenue and North Croft. Like its counterpart on Mercer Street in New York, the location will serve as a flagship for surrounding stores in the area, with locations developing in Downtown Los Angeles and Silver Lake. The interior of the space does well to iterate the brand’s overall design language, with graciously large windows and thin racks allowing natural light to wash over the men’s and women’s collections. The San Francisco Guide to Menswear

Something is happening in San Francisco. Bars in the Mission, ones like Zeitgeist with their expansive selection of local drafts and welcoming backyards, are swarming with sharply dressed men, embodying a new era for menswear in the city that brought us decades of iconic looks.

These are no longer the bearded hippies of the Haight, nor are they the mustached machos of the Castro. The new San Francisco man is quirky in his Warby Parker glasses, selvedge denim, and a rugged quilted vest. He smells of musk and drinks local craft brews. This isn’t a new phenomenon in major American cities, but it is interesting to see the momentum of quality boutiques catering to the men of Google, Apple, and Facebook, who have invaded the city, creating a menswear destination that rivals Tokyo or New York. Jean Touitou On The Yeezus Tour, The Worst Fashion Trends Today And A.P.C.’s New Bond Street Store

At this point, does Jean Touitou really need an introduction? Since founding A.P.C. in 1987, he has not only cultivated a devout following of customers, but a well-defined and polarizing worldview that is as much a part of his brand as his trademark minimal designs. On some level, he is his own brand's best marketing tool. His nonchalant, yet vocal proclamations of atheism and disdain of modern day street style combined with his uncanny ability to craft a truly amazing quote (see: "Kanye's kingdom of dopeness") all make the product he sells seem that much more authentic. In fact, that stuff justifies the $250 price tag for a basic cotton sweater better than any explanation of fabrics and manufacturing ever could. As customers, we know that when we buy A.P.C. we are buying a product that stands for something, whether we agree with it or not, in a world where so few labels stand for anything.

A.P.C Kanye Capsule Collection

Kanye West has long been an artist who held influence within the realms of both music and fashion. Having been a frequent attendee of various fashion weeks around the globe and having even designed his own womenswear line, the latest in the artist’s repertoire arrives as a teaser of an upcoming collaboration with A.P.C. While little is known of the venture thus far, the A.P.C. Journal and Instagram feed are stating a July 14 release for the Kanye Capsule Collection.

A.P.C.'s New Men's Line Is All About Bad Boys + VIDEO

As everyone knows, A.P.C. is the place to go for sharp, seasonless basics with a touch of French Je ne sais quoi. Now the label is offering a little more luxe with its new Louis W. line. Fresh for fall, the capsule collection consists of three timeless leather jackets—motorcycle, aviator, police—tricked out in a soft deerskin usually reserved for gloves and infused with old-school French crime-thriller cred. Hint talked to designer Louis Wong—a seven-year veteran of the brand who cut his teeth at Louis Vuitton—about his modern tweak on a French classic.

Rumor: Kanye West to Show Menswear Line in Paris

It seems the rumor mill wouldn’t be in business without Kanye West. The latest bit of gossip circling the influential cultural ambassador of cool involves what many speculate to be a menswear line that he plans on showing in Paris next week. Based off internet sleuthing, A.P.C.’s creative director Jean Touitou’s interview with GQ and cryptic tweets from Ford Models, along with Kanye’s flare for the dramatics, speculation usually turns to certainty when the hip-hop mogul feels the time is just right. Having made a splash in the fashion world with a so-so review of his women’s line, only time will tell if or when Kanye delves into the menswear market.
