iLoveMakonnen - Rumor

iLoveMakonnen takes a break from pushing new music to revisit last year's re-release of his self-titled EP. In the past few weeks alone, iLoveMakonnen has shared videos for recent releases such as "Super Chef" and "No Ma'am,"  so this new video for one of his older songs is certainly a change of pace. While Makonnen has been turning up in recent videos, this clip for iLoveMakonnen cut "Rumor" features a different side of the "Tuesday" crooner. The video for "Rumor" is directed by Kyle Seago, a visual artist who has snapped shots of Makonnen before.

Steve ESPO Powers New Solo Show in NYC

Next week, artist and love letter scribe, Steve Powers (ESPO) returns with his first solo show in seven years, aptly named A Word is Worth a Thousand Pictures  at New York’s Joshua Liner Gallery.

Expect to see a panoramic range of work from 10-x-8 in to 10-x-10 feet featuring his signature style of bright, punchy typography and graphics, as well as his “Metaltations” – small-scale works on 10-x-8 inch metal sheets painted with enamel that serve as daily diary. Pop, graffiti, sign painting all mingle effortlessly in what Powers says: “…paintings closest to my ideal visually represent what’s in my head, a cacophony of wants and needs and hopes and fears and dreams.” If you can’t go to the show in Chelsea before it ends on September 29th, get a visual preview above of what you’ll be missing out on.  Opening reception: Thursday September 6 from 6-9pm

You may know André Saraiva as the man behind the club empire Le Baron, but in this episode of VICE Meets we talk about how he got involved in graffiti and his installation at The Hole Gallery in New York. The show was worth a visit, and we should really look into getting that large mechanical penis installed at the Brooklyn VICE office. You know, for when we have special guests.

Rumor: Kanye West to Show Menswear Line in Paris

It seems the rumor mill wouldn’t be in business without Kanye West. The latest bit of gossip circling the influential cultural ambassador of cool involves what many speculate to be a menswear line that he plans on showing in Paris next week. Based off internet sleuthing, A.P.C.’s creative director Jean Touitou’s interview with GQ and cryptic tweets from Ford Models, along with Kanye’s flare for the dramatics, speculation usually turns to certainty when the hip-hop mogul feels the time is just right. Having made a splash in the fashion world with a so-so review of his women’s line, only time will tell if or when Kanye delves into the menswear market.

Katie Eary Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

London is busy these days with lots of menswear shows going on. Today we take a look at the new Katie Eary Spring/Summer 2013 Collection, which was also presented over the weekend. The designer used lots of bold prints, reminding a little bit of Versace and the early 90s. In general the brand has quite some street and hip hop inspiration in its collection, which is by the way not new for Katie Eary, but something we have been seeing in previous collections already.

The 15 Best Lana Del Rey Remixes

Lana Del Rey‘s buzz started with vintage clips and timeless songs with a classic structure, but there has always been a modern edge to her. Production by guys like Emile and Jeff Bhasker lend her sound a subtle hip-hop twist, and her lyrics give a glimpse into the diverse styles that shape who she is. She might be making pop music, but it’s the kind of pop that makes DJs want to inject a heavy dose of bass into; the kind of pop that makes rappers want to hop on.

Ever since Lana’s early days of YouTube hype, the remixes have been pouring in. Now it’s finally slowed down, we decided it was time to take them all in and filter out the cream of the crop. Here are the 15 Best Lana Del Rey Remixes.
