Burberry Launches Limited Edition Book Collection
Christopher Bailey first gave us a hint that he was a fan of Bruce Chatwin’s work in his spring/summer 2015 menswear collection. Entitled ‘Book Covers & Bruce Chatwin’, it used hand-painted graphics taken from the typography of Chatwin’s book covers from the 1940s. Meanwhile, the models carried leather-bound notepads and travel satchels, and wore felt hats similar to those favoured by the writer, who died in 1989.
Burberry Heads Home for London Collections: Men
After a decade of sending well-tailored gents up and down the runway in Milan, Burberry is coming home this summer, bringing their bi-annual menswear show to London. Set for June 18th during London Collections: Men, the show move makes plenty of sense for the already London-based juggernaut that promotes its British heritage almost as much as it does those essential crafted-in-Yorkshire trenches. Plus, we have to believe Christopher Bailey and his crew are happy to trade the sky miles for a fashion week home field advantage.
Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013 LFW
Bailey called the show “Trench Kisses: A Collection of Classics and Christine Keeler,” referring to the infamous model and showgirl who nearly brought down the British government in the 1963 Profumo affair. The designer channeled the demure dress of the period, with knee-length skirts, some crafted from translucent rubber, and kitten-wedge heels in animal prints, accented with gold buckles at the front. Chic, slightly boxy mink and calfskin coats came in zebra, giraffe or leopard prints, while some trenches boasted translucent rubber details. One dark red coat had gold bar embellishments at the front and back, while another was dotted with shiny grommets around the bottom. Bailey also played his hand with a heart motif that made its debut at his men’s collection last month in Milan; here he dotted them all over shirtdresses and blouses and plunked big gold hearts on white dresses for evening.
Burberry Prorsum 2013 Fall/Winter Collection
Christopher Bailey presents Burberry Prorsum‘s 2013 fall/winter collection titled ”I ♥ Classics.” Burberry Prorsum’s latest collection sees the brand subvert its classic offerings with a range of noteworthy details. Animal print was the name of the game this season — think leopard print shoes, zebra and leopard print coats, and more subtle animal print detailing on the more demure pieces. By no means a revolutionary collection but when you’ve got the history of Burberry behind you sometimes that’s a good thing.

Bailey said Burberry wanted to come up with a watch that was functional and timeless, but one that also felt modern. “The trenchcoat is the inspiration and starting point for so much of what we do at Burberry — and many aspects of The Britain nod to the trenchcoat in some way, from the D ring, which is reflected in the shape of The Britain, to the trench color palette, which is woven throughout the collection,” he said.
Prices range from $1,795 for the automatic versions to $4,995 for one model set with 124 diamonds. The Power Reserve Automatic watch costs $3,995, while the chronograph costs $1,895.

Tom Ford and Christopher Bailey Spearhead London Men’s Fashion Week
The British Fashion Council announced yesterday that London will get its own menswear week — well, more like weekend — this summer. Running from Friday, June 15 to Sunday, June 17, it'll immediately precede the Milan and Paris spring 2013 menswear shows; this hopefully means it'll have better attendance than London's previous arrangement, which involved squeezing all the menswear collections into the day after London Fashion Week (when most editors have already jetted off to Milan). The BFC states that they'll stick to a similar schedule moving forward, showing their menswear collections each January and June.
Leading the crusade to establish a London men's week is British GQ editor Dylan Jones, who's backed up by a committee including Tom Ford, Burberry's Christopher Bailey, and David Furnish, the advertising executive turned filmmaker who's perhaps best known as Elton John's longtime partner. The BFC's announcement that the weekend's collections will be accompanied by a "cultural program" has also spurred speculation about an Elton John concert (ooh!). And as London will be gearing up for the Olympics, it'll surely be a nice time to visit before the crowds descend.
Burberry Fall 2012
Burberry, their F/W 2012 collection was simply amazing. Indulge us an understatement, Christopher Bailey is good at what he does.
