Carey Mulligan by Kerry Hallihan for Elle UK June 2015
Nicolas Winding - Drive
In the elevator scene is where Driver realizes that the circumstances have led to this—they’re in an elevator and he knows what he has to do now, and he will lose her forever, so he kisses her goodbye, because he knows he now has to go to the dark side in order to protect her.

Watch Another Grandiose Trailer for ‘The Great Gatsby' VIDEO
What's a director to do with one of the most famous and beloved novels of all time? Make it larger than life, insanely opulent, and epic—that's what. And with Baz Luhrmann's highly-anticipated and widely discussed adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald'sThe Great Gatsby, it looks like, well, like a true Baz picture. The man who brought you Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge sticks to his dramatic and grandiose oeuvre with the feature that will see its premeire at the Cannes Film Festival come May.

We're All Going To Have To Wait An Extra 6 Months For 'The Great Gatsby' Movie To Come Out VIDEO
So. We have bad news, and we have good news. The bad news is it looks like Warner Bros. is postponing the release of Baz Luhrmann's much-anticipated remake of The Great Gastby. Media Bistro reports that the studio has issued a press-release stating that, because the movie is just that good, the release date is going to be held until next summer when, ostensibly, more people can go see it. Here's the quote:
“Based on what we’ve seen, Baz Luhrmann’s incredible work is all we anticipated and so much more. It truly brings Fitzgerald’s American classic to life in a completely immersive, visually stunning and exciting way. We think moviegoers of all ages are going to embrace it, and it makes sense to ensure this unique film reaches the largest audience possible.”
Carey Mulligan Puts Her Met Gala Dress on eBay
Carey Mulligan is selling her Met Gala dress on eBay, with all proceeds going to Oxfam America. Because really, what was she going to do with that old thing — a custom Prada halter dress made of silver and gold metal paillettes — anyway? The auction went live late last night with a starting price of $500, and miraculously, there haven't been any bids yet. The dress's approximate size is 38–40 (that's a 2–4 in the U.S.). The auction will close on Saturday, May 19, and the dress will be delivered to the top bidder by June 11.
MET Costume Institute Gala 2012
Red Carpet Fashion: every year the red carpet I look forward to the most is for the annual Costume Institute Gala at the MET, which this year honours Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada and the parallels between them and a hypothetical conversation between the two designers. The gala entitled “Impossible Conversations,” attracted designers, musicians, models and actors alike all dressed in the most beautiful designs by the industries best.
Now onto the visual candy - my picks for the best dressed among the ladies. Keep in mind I am fickle and have not seen every look as of yet so I will add to this later tonight. Oddly enough save for a few disasters (Ahem, Mary-Kate Olsen’s hair) I did not notice too many fashion missteps but rather an array of glamorous perfectly put together looks all worthy of the event they graced.

If 2012’s Oscar-nominated movie posters told the truth...
I love that we’re not hearing any backstory—we just know that it must’ve been fucked up wherever they came from.
You know, I’m very disappointed with how people make movies these days. And I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be saying this, but I’ll be honest—I think they’re rubbish. It’s almost like they’re treating audiences like idiots. Every movie is a cliché… . And nothing this year, ever, has surprised me. I think the response to Shame—you know, we got the Critics Prize in Venice and we were the best-reviewed movie in Toronto—just shows you the thirst and the want for something [that] they don’t know where it’s going to go. And I think a character like Brandon—we’ve got a deep sympathy for him, a love for him, just because he’s trying. It’s difficult; it’s just difficult being a human being right now. But for me, this film is not about judging anything; it’s not about morality. It’s about someone who is just in this world and who deals with what he’s got. Here you are, deal with it. The whole idea that God put us here or whoever put us here on this earth—it’s absolute nonsense.
That’s why I think people respond to it—you recognize parts of us in him.
Absolutely. I like to think that when you go sit down in the cinema, you see yourself. There’s an acknowledgment. I remember when I met with Abi [Morgan, co-screenwriter], and we were talking about writing it, and she said, “I think a dog whistle will be going off in the cinema for the audience.” That’s exactly what I wanted. Also, when I see other movies these days, it’s sort of, what’s the point?
Shame - “New York New York” VIDEO
Sissy (Carey Mulligan) performs a stunning version of “New York New York” while Brandon (Michael Fassbender) looks on.
But I had this idea to shoot it like a fairy tale, essentially Drive took on this fairy tale structure, you know, you have the archetype of the night who roams the wasteland in search of a woman to save. He even has a jacket with a scorpion on as his symbol. And it’s a movie about a man who has difficulty dealing with reality, the Driver character is essentially psychotic but he’s not psychopathic, because he has a lot of empathy and purity, but he’s psychotic in his behaviour; he’s willing to go to great lengths to protect what is pure. He’s almost a man who doesn’t belong in our time anymore. So, the characters became very archetypal.
