#Look I haven’t finished the game—I’m still in act 2 BUT#I feel like a lot of the party members stories are about grappling with the person they’ve had to become#laezel/wyll/shadowheart…. All have to reevaluate what they’ve become in some way right? They thought they#were doing the right thing right? “Former cultist” would fit very well thematically among that#realizing the absolute was preying on the catastrophe that is becoming a drider or whatever#And that his devotion is never going to be thanked. He’ll be cast out again so easily the minute it’s more convienent#or something#idk. Like I said. Still in act 2#But come on. The Potential……#rip#bg3#karniss#Yes I’m on my bullshit again. "ugh, that trope is so overused"

okay? what are you going to tell me next, that the sunset is overdone? the sound of your favorite song is passé? the sight of your loved ones is worn out and tired? that we shouldn't revel in the simple joy of enjoying what we know we like, all because of some arbitrary quota you've imagined?

#yea#also: tropes only feel overused when applied without due work to integrate into the material#ie: it feels “cheap” when it feels like characters in the trope are incongruous with themselves in other parts of the story—because there’s#a fairly thin line between “multi faced” and “inconsistent” and it’s hard to walk#tropes are the building blocks upon which elements of a story should be built upon#so imo when a trope feels cheap it’s bc it usually feels like there’s not enough structure around it and within it to support it#alternate metaphor: tropes are can of tomato sauce…when cooking you make it taste so much better if you add other elements and season it#or something#idk#sorry for the tag ramble op#writing

people need to realise that a poor little meow meow must be a character who has committed atrocities you cannot poor little meow meow a good guy that's not how this works

what this post has shown me is that so many of people on this hellsite cannot distinguish between a poor little meow meow and a blorbo from my shows smh
