If you deadname someone in the death note it kills you

In one of the Death Note live action movies (I think it was Light Up the New World), a man changes his name after harboring guilt about past crimes and trying to atone (not even answering to that name). He's only killed after his new name gets put in the book, since he shed his old name.

Man wasn't trans, but if the logic applied to him, logic should apply to trans people too!

This rule implies that birth names are not necessarily the names given to you at birth.

That means you can change your name or consider yourself to have a new name and the death note recognizes it.

Death Note is an ally.

I had to look this up to double check, but there is a rule that if the owner accidentally misspelled a person's name 4 times, that person is immune to the Death Note, but if the owner purposefully misspelled a person's name 4 tines, the owner will die.

So, theoretically, if the owner knew a trans person's deadname and knew their real name, but decided to be transphobic and wrote their deadname instead of their real name 4 times, then the owner would die.

This is about the father spreading personal medical information to the public and exposing his son to violence and harassment in public.

This isn’t just about rejecting his son, but about exposing him to abuse in the public sphere as well. It’s about the father sharing private medical information to the world without the consent of his son. 

This isn’t just about the personal relationship between parent and child and how that can be affected by gender identity. This is about putting his son in danger and exposing personal details that leave him open for harassment to others.

This isn’t just about the father being an asshole and gossiping with his friends or the extended family. He’s going to media outlets for fuck sakes, exposing his son to harassment on a much larger scale than anyone dismissing this is understanding.

The father wanted the story picked up by Fox and Brietbart for fuck sakes, what do you think is going to happen to the child when he exposes his trans child to those conservative hateful assholes, with detailed personal and medical information making him SUPER easy to find in public.

This is a fucking safety and medical privacy issue for fuck sakes.

Terfs in the notes defending it because why wouldn’t they? They are more concerned about the father’s right to misgender their child than the fact that a parent was trying to put their child’s personal, private and medical information out into a violent right wing for them to tear apart. In case you don’t know Gavin’s story—It’s going to be a huge precedent at the SCOTUS and I’m hopeful and nervous and so fucking overwhelmed by his and his family’s bravery. This is a pivotal moment for trans rights and I’m so anxious to to see what happens.

All I can think of is my little buddy C, my exes’ son and Bird’s bestie’s little brother, and how this will affect his life. He’s seven. So far he’s had great success in public school but this case will have a profound effect on all kids like him.

I fervently hope the court does the right thing. As Laverne Cox said of this case, it’s about trans people’s right to exist in public spaces.
