I’m going to see FKA twigs tonight so I thought I’d do my first #slowjam. I’m not going to lie to you, I’ve been walking around wearing this and thinking the entire time, “I look so good tonight! Goddamn godDAMN.” And that’s what a good outfit does. It makes you feel like you are the baddest bitch around. And if you feel like you are, then you walk like you are and you talk like you are and therefore you are!

People might say fashion doesn’t matter, what matters is how you look on the inside, and yeah, okay, that’s nice, but looking hot as hell never hurts. And “looking hot as hell” is subjective, angels. You do you and don’t give a fuck if other people think you don’t look as hot as you feel; they don’t have to get it and they don’t have to agree with you to have it remain a truth. Just remember this works both ways: if someone’s fashion includes long, tousled hair and A&F, respect that and see that hotness too. Let people own their chosen aesthetic and encourage their confidence shown while rocking it.

This is what I shot while Katie shot that last photo. Hers is wayyyy better and 1000x more gorgeous. 

This is why I need her in my life cause sometimes when we’re shooting I do things to my camera and then I’m like - fuck this isn’t what I want and she helps me. 

And while we were in Ohio I had done something the last time I shot myself that messed up my timer. So instead of hitting the remote and getting 10 seconds it was just leasing right away. I literally spent so much time in the menu of my camera trying to undo it. Katie was smart enough to know there was a little button on the bottom of my remote I had switched. 

See. I need her. For far more reasons than these but it is very very true.

I need you too, babygirl. Come with me.

katie i am officially crossing you off my list of ‘tumblrers who are not marceline’

this photo came up this week in my humanities class online discussion about dorothea lange's photos, and it got me thinking about the perverse optimism in all those photos despite the ruinous conditions people were living in, and how even though most people today aren't living nearly as desperately as those fleeing the dust bowl, large-scale economic conditions are worryingly similar, and how the boomers (our parents) inherited both the post war economic miracle that bought us the space age and also their parents (our grandparents, the dust bowl generation) endless litany of stories of privation and poverty and learned frugality and fiscal mistrust

and then they cocked up the whole god damn thing anyways

and now we get endless thinkpieces about whether millenials are ever going to get around to getting careers and married and houses, like here is one that was published //yesterday// - http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2014/10/what-will-it-take-for-millennials-to-become-homeowners/381730/

and it's exhausting to think about how weary we all are of all of this compared to the people living in the depression

Hey, if no one else is telling you you’re smart and worthy and talented and unstoppable, do it for yourself.

People tell me that, sure, and I always appreciate it. But my alarm that goes off every morning at 7 a.m. definitely says, “Good morning, beautiful.” 

I took Katie’s advice and changed all of my alarms so that they say lovely things to me.
