Like you guys deserve to be proud but there isn’t “asexual pride” bc the biggest movement you guys have is to make people aware that you exist and that’s why there’s ace “awareness” and not “pride”. You haven’t had to fight for rights or anything. I know it’s hard not being understood, but stop grasping at strings just so you can get a special snowflake award.
The Ace/Aro community is still a part of the LGBTQ+ community, and tagging your post “i don’t hate asexuals or asexual pride I just wish y’all would stop acting like you have it so fucking hard” makes you sound extremely ignorant. People don’t treat the Ace/Aro community like they exist because they think they’ve been “hurt” or they “just haven’t found the right person.” So fuck you, they deserve to have pride, and this is why.
I didn’t say they don’t deserve pride I’m just saying that that’s why some people say ace/aro awareness instead of ace/aro pride bc all that you have really to fight for as far as a cause is being made aware of and proving that it is a sexuality rather then just being hurt or not finding the right person. There are people who get fired or killed or abused for being gay or trans etc and I’m not saying that asexuals aren’t valid or don’t deserve respect, I just really wish people would stop acting like asexuals not being noticed is the biggest problem in the LGBTQ+ community (I had a post proceeding this that explains what I’m saying better). I’m not ignorant just because I have an opinion that I wanted to state, I really don’t have anything against asexuals.
I think a problem with this would be that its sorta sounding like a competition in the oppression Olympics and its coming off as really us centric? Yes SOME asexuals and aromantics may not have it as bad as SOME gay/lesbian/bi people but in other cultures, (primarily non European and North American cultures) being married is a big deal like marriage in some parts of Botswana being so popular for appearance that parents will disown/shame their own children into relationships. Like yes the other identities may have it hard but its still a bit acephobic(?) to imply they don’t deserve pride.
But I literally never said they don’t deserve pride. I said why people call it awareness and not pride but I didn’t say it wasn’t relevant or legitimate or aloud or anything. I was simply statng that it’s more of an awareness group then a pride movement and I was just saying that I feel like it’s annoying when people complain about it. Obviously they’re aloud to be upset or feel a certain way, and I in no way ever said they couldn’t or that they shouldn’t be proud. I feel like you guys are reading too much into what I said.
You legit tried to demean a group of people by calling them "special snowflakes" and telling them to stop acting like they have it so fucking hard.
Hey guess what - there are different levels of oppression and just because one group "seemingly" has it worse doesn't mean they don't experience hardship as well.
Get off your high fucking horse.
