Censorship
Every painting, every statue, every piece of art I ever posted here that contained nudity has been flagged. I’m not talking about porn; I don’t post any. I’m talking about Renaissance paintings, classical statues, everything. Can you imagine what would happen to the Louvre, the Met, the Guggenheim if such a standard was applied to their collections?
I’m deleting my posts, all 11,000 of them. I built this tumblr over a period of years, and I was proud of what I’d curated. I’ve nothing against obscenity (obscenity has a time-honored place in art), but I avoided posting it in an effort to be respectful of this community.
But it seems that a draconian red pen is being used to delete millenia of representations of the human form without regard for the sanctity of art. Even the few photographs I posted of bare-chested men from film and TV were flagged!
When there’s no room for art here there’s no longer any room for me. To my 17,000 followers: Goodbye, and good luck!
