i love how the WHO made the decision to no longer classify being trans as a mental illness/disorder and yet medical transitioning is still covered by insurance

like @ truscum where are yall now with your “demedicalizing being trans will kill trans people” fear mongering bullshit

It needs to be treated as a neurological condition. It is a neurological condition. It is a medical problem! Insurance barely covers it as it is! You're making it worse for us by pushing for it to be demedicalized. Once it is no longer considered a medical condition, you can bet insurance won't cover it anymore. Hell, I'm on Medicaid and Medicaid won't even cover braces for teeth because "it's cosmetic", even if the teeth are in bad shape. It also refuses to let me get a decent wheelchair despite me being a full-time user. So let me ask you this, if the medical insurance that I have to use because I'm poor doesn't cover other things that I need that are considered medical necessities, do you think that insurance is going to cover something that is not considered a medical necessity? Do you think private insurance will cover something that is not considered a medical necessity? You Realize having it classified as anything other than a medical condition will make it so insurance does not have to cover it, right?

God dammit, this is legitimate transphobia. I'm pissed off.

non dysphoric trans person is such a contradiction it’s like saying a depressed person isn’t depressed. it’s literally a round about way for saying you’re cis but trying to claim you aren’t.

nah its like saying a depressed person doesnt have a certain symptom of being depressed which can totally happen

You might just have some symptoms of atypical depression. People with depression can sometimes exhibit symptoms of atypical and typical depression. For example, you might have most of your typical symptoms of depression but perhaps you have hypersomnia or increased appetite instead of insomnia and decreased appetite. People Express depression differently. You are correct in saying that not exhibiting a symptom or two doesn't mean you're not depressed.

However, you have to understand that gender dysphoria is a medical condition that causes a person a great deal of discomfort in their own body. Transitioning is a treatment for that discomfort. Therefore, being a non dysphoric trans person is similar to getting chemotherapy when you don't have cancer. You wouldn't do that. Just like putting chemotherapy on a healthy body, transitioning will have very unpleasant effects on the person who does not have the disorder that it's meant to treat. For example, you're going to end up with actual gender dysphoria and regret transitioning in the first place.

I believe this is why instances of transgender regret and detransitioning are so high. Right now, there is a lot of misinformation going around about being transgender and what that means. This leads to young people who may be struggling with who they are to believe they are transgender when they are not. Particularly those who are gay or bisexual. It's very common for Tumblr to lead feminine men and masculine women to believe they are the opposite sex and from what I've seen, people who are already part of the LGBT community are targeted more with this misinformation.

This not only leads to more issues for the victims of that misinformation, but it also causes more issues for legitimate transgender people. It makes it harder for them to get the treatment necessary to transition because people who don't have dysphoria are misusing it (mostly without realizing) and regretting it. It also gives those who are bigoted against transgender people and don't see their struggles as legitimate ammo. This is coming from someone who has experienced some of these things, (I have dysphoria) so I hope you take what I'm saying to heart before you get angry at me.

Hello everyone! This is resource I wanted to tell you all about! It’s an app called “Voice Pitch Analyzer”. It has you read a passage a full minute, and then tells you if the range may be perceived as more masculine, feminine, or androgynous. (Disclaimer: Obviously peoples voices vary from person to person. There are women with very low voices and men with very high ones. This does not mean they aren’t “real” men and women. This is simply a post for those with voice dysphoria or who would just like to sound more masculine, feminine, or androgynous to those around them). Please don’t be discouraged if you voice does not land in the range you want it to! It takes practice, and practice is just what this app is for. It allows you to practice speaking in the range you want to be percieved as. Admittedly, it can be a little disheartening having to strain my voice just to get in the upper androgynous range, so a major dysphoria trigger warning to anyone considering downloading it, but, with practice I am getting better and able to talk in that low voice for longer periods of time.

Signal boosting! Please reblog to help others!

Please reblog this, even if you are cis! This app could help so many trans people, and I would like for it to become as well known as Refugee Restrooms!!

@nonbinary-dysphoria , I actually didn't know either of those apps! Thanks. I will definitely spread it.

Stop before it’s too late HRT will NOT make you androgynous or “NonBinary”. It’ll make you into a man/ woman.

My reaction when seeing someone get dysphoria from taking Hormones thinking it’ll make them Nonbinary, or will give them an androgynous aesthetic.

I almost feel bad, I wouldn’t wish my dysphoria on my worse enemy

@c-ptsdofficial I’m sorry, but what is your problem with those who consider being transgender/non-binary a response/treatment for the medical condition that causes your brain and body not to match? As far as I’m concerned, gender dysphoria is a medical condition and being transgender or non-binary is a way to relieve it.

-sincerly, a trans person.

@sini-sterility , since you are non-binary, perhaps you can explain being non-binary to them better.

It’s basically you have dysphoria but it’s not bad enough that you want to transition fully, or at ALL. Also anyone with dysphoria can use the term if they aren’t comfortable with the thought of themselves being fully a man OR a woman. But people who do it without any dysphoria at all? Are pieces of shit who shit who fucking appropriate other people’s pain and hardships. How do you NOT feel bad about that?

Don’t you miss when the emo phase was still a trend instead of people appropriating a medical condition to use as a fashion statement? Being transgender is not about gender roles or expression. It’s about suffering from gender dysphoria and transitioning to alleviate that. This isn’t artsy or cute uwu and its not a choice.

wait what. emo has nothing to do with dysphoria? wtf

as someone who will admit to currently being emo and previously falling into the tumblr gender fuck mentality:

emo culture in the mid 2000s was a simpler time when people weren’t deemed “cringe” or whatever for being fucking ridiculous. because this mindset of “everything is okay” was so prevalent, naturally, lgbt acceptance was a giant thing. however, this acceptance transitioned into a pseudo-fetishization of lgbt people, most notably bisexuals. suddenly, everyone was putting “bisexual!!!” on their quotev or myspace profiles, even when they weren’t bisexual. early on, they did this mostly to be special and to get attention. later, when too many people started hopping on the “bisexual bandwagon” for it to be a unique identification, people started doing it just to fit in. this mindset is also reflected in the fashion and actions of 2000s emo, but the fashion and (most) actions were simply harmless. this is not the case for the “bisexual bandwagon” at all. to this day, bisexual people have a hard time being taken seriously. they get asked if they’re “bisexual for attention.” they get asked things like “are you sure you’re not just straight/gay?” and “oh, it’s just a phase.” (keep that last phrase in mind.)

eventually, around the time tumblr got really popular (think…2013-2015), people started criticizing those who jumped on the “bisexual bandwagon” solely for attention. most people ended up realizing that they were indeed either gay or straight. those that were actually bisexual were subjected to the scrutiny I mentioned above, but they eventually got to declare their orientation proudly. I mention this time period to also bring light to the fact that emo had drastically changed. my chemical romance had broken up, fall out boy had gone through their hiatus and come out with a different style of music, panic! at the disco was still shuffling their members around, and emo culture as a whole was on the decline. you’d be subjected to scrutiny if you acted in the “omg randumb!!! waffles XD!!!” style of the 2000s emo. emo fashion was also on the path to change, as scene culture melted away and goth culture managed to continually infuse their aesthetics into the emo subculture. we also saw people looking more “hipster” and less edgy, as the rise of hipster culture had started. the emo culture looked as though it was on the path to integration into either the goth or hipster cultures. myspace was dead and gone, leading to the rise of quotev. and there, in quotev, we will find what birthed the next emo revival - and the next set of problems.

quotev was - no, is - a psuedo-myspace. however, it also offers users a place to take and publish quizzes. this is where the problem begins. in emo culture, you’d obviously get depressed, anxious teenagers looking for a community and a place to belong (of course, hence the stereotypical depressed emo kid). this also attracted many posers - and yes, i am aware that by using that term, i sound horrific and pretentious. hear me out, please. these posers would be attracted to the fashion or the culture, but not be depressed or anxious. combine the stereotypes of depression and anxiety with the pressure to fit in, and you get the self-diagnosis community and the rise of, well, posers. these people would take quizzes that “determine if you have depression” made by other teenagers, get results that said “depressed”, and internalize that until they truly believed they were depressed. this happened - you guessed it - with sexuality as well. and since sexuality and gender are so closely associated…yep. people would question their gender. this was honestly not that uncommon - emo guys looked pretty fucking androgynous. but they knew that they were simply presenting as gender-non-conforming, and in reality, they were a guy. fast-forward to the quotev/tumblr Era of Emo, and you find these people questioning their gender again. this time, however, instead of accepting that gender identity and presentation are two different things, people took the “bisexual bandwagon” approach - “it’s cool and unique to be transgender, so I’m going to say that I’m trans even when I’m not so I can get attention!” and here you have the current Era of Emo - emocore/nu-emo/emo revival.

emo now is emo culture dead and shoddily revived. this “emo revival” culture was born from tumblr - you’ve seen it. “it’s cool and unique to be transgender/gay/bisexual and if you aren’t then you’re the weird one” - sound familiar? people started being “transgender” for attention only. then, when they realized that being transgender is an awful, horrible condition, they didn’t stop and reevaluate, no. they warped the definition of transgender to fit with their desire to be special and not experience any of the real, horrible issues that transgender people face. now, like the “bisexual bandwagon”, we have gullible teenagers being indoctrinated into a culture of “genderfluid!” and “smashing the cis-tem!” and “you don’t need dysphoria to be trans!” that last one is an especially unfortunate result of this mindset - they’ve warped the definition of transgender to fit with their desire to be special and unique. also, you might be wondering how emo revival fits in here - just look at current emo band blogs, man. if they aren’t “special genders” with “they/them” pronouns, they’re in support of them lest they be cast out and shunned.

this is dangerous. this is putting actual trans people at risk. actual trans people are being asked “are you sure this isn’t a phase?” and being the subject of doubt. actual trans people are being put on long waiting lists because of non-dysphorics getting HRT and SRS that they do not need. actual trans people are being invalidated and cast out of the only communities they have.

so, emo culture and transgenderism. more related than you’d like to think.

transmen are men. transwomen are women. just because you’re willing to date us, and have sexual relations with us, doesnt make you pansexual. that’s disgusting and fetishistic

You see why I don’t want my taxes going to Trans people? Seriously, be like the rest of us and get a fucking job then play for it. I mean for the love of god I do that. I work, save my money, then if I want a piercing I go and get it! Don’t be a whinny bitch then take everyone who actually works money to pay for it! That’s literally being so selfish! I would rather my taxes go to someone who is in serious danger of dying! Not to people who are to lazy to work! And also don’t give me that shit about how “but it’s too much money!” That’s too fucking bad! You don’t need a sex change no matter how much the LGBT community says you do! That’s like me saying “BUT I NEED THIS TATTOO!!!” You don’t need it. Stop being a little bitch and work for your shit. I’d rather my money go to people who need it for food or shelter or water or something that might save their life than a trans for a sex change which more of them regret.

THIS IS NOT COSMEDIC! IT IS A MEDICAL PROCEDURE THAT WILL SAVE MY LIFE! We all know trans is a fad and (only 2 genders) but honestly… us dysphoric (the medical condition we are born with) trans people really need this surgery. It’s like saying “I hate cancerous people because they are just too lazy to work. I didn’t ask to be trans. I didn’t ask to cry in the shower, be sexually and physically assulted, be suicidal, and has to pay for the right body. The trans trenders are assholes who think trans is a choice but they don’t speak for us. We just want to be normal. I hate being trans. I would sell my soul to be cis.

Cancer is a seriously dangerous disease that can kill someone without them doing anything. You killing yourself because you can’t get what you want is a therapist issue not a surgical issue. You can literally live without a sex change. If you want one save your money but if you can’t afford it that’s too bad. I’m not paying for it. No tax payer will pay for it. Because you don’t physically need it. Stop being a whinny bitch. You sound like a little kid who is throwing a tantrum because you can’t get what you want. Again you need a psychiatrist not a surgeon.

I explained to you in a reblog that no, it is not just mental. I need surgery. I didn’t ask for this to happen to me. I was born with it. I live in pain and suffer physically because of it. I’m pre transition but since I socially transitioned I have lost most of my depression and anxiety. I was going to therapy. The only thing that worked was transition.

Therapy doesn’t fucking work dumbass that’s what I just said. I don’t want to fucking be trans but it’s The only fucking option. And you’re acting like trans people don’t work. We work out asses off trying to be normal. Fuck you.

Then why do you need our money? Because you can’t pay for your body modification? No need to be hostile 😂 I get it. You’re a sad person who couldn’t get your way so you blame people who call it what it is. Please if you can prove me wrong. What kind of physical harm do you receive pre-transition?

Hmmm guess you cuck.

Suicide? Because that’s mental… Cutting? Also mental…. because no medical record on the face of the earth show that someone who didn’t transition got a physical condition like a heart attack or a stroke. All of it is mental. Not physical. You will not die from not transitioning. You will die from your own hand. Which cannot be fixed by a surgeon. You saying that “omg I can’t get what I want I’m going to kms” is not fixable with surgery I’m sorry to say. You getting surgery is just you getting what you want which isn’t therapeutic nor will it save you in the future of your mental illness. I’m not saying you can’t be trans. I’m saying that you don’t need surgery nor should tax dollars go towards such a thing.

Asshole. I . Need. Surgery. You. Cunt.

Welp my lovely followers, I’m literally laughing so hard. Typical Transgender millennial 😂

I’m not a millennial dumbass.

? Was I talking about you? Hmm lemme check. No. 😂

Dysphoria is Neurological, bro… think before you speak, especially if you’re going to be this arrogant about it.

Really? Evidence to support this? Also it is like a piercing. Body modification and you can save up for both… but you guys are like “it’s not like that!” Because it’s too much money. You guys expect us as tax payers to pay. You’re arguement is flawed my good sir.

First of all, did I not just say that I didn’t want taxpayers paying for my transition, you arrogant dumbass? Do you mind pointing me to where I said otherwise?

Secondly, wish granted.

Okay, true I assumed that was wrong but Insurance should not pay for it because it is a body modification. It will not save a transgenders life nor will it improve it. Many studies have shown trans regret them and even have a higher chance of suicide. So no it doesn’t improve their life.

It’s not the same as body modification, you’re implying that it’s the same as getting a tattoo or something. It’s not, it makes it easier for them to pass as male or female and alleviates dysphoria in the majority of cases. It essentially makes sense closer to the manor woman that they wish they were born as.

It is not the same as getting a fucking tramp stamp.

Body modification is anything that you do to your body permanently that is not needed. Aka sex change. You do not physically need it to survive. You’re right it’s not the same thing because it’s much more serious than that. But it is permanent and not needed. You can have it if you want I’m not stopping you! But again I’m not paying for your body modification

Again, going after arguments I didn’t make. You just admitted that gender dysphoria is biological, it is a biological issue.

As far as the whole “body modification” argument, I have two other neurological conditions, one of them make my muscles way more tight then they should be, this resulted in some of my bones forming the wrong way, or being pushed into the wrong place. This made my life much more uncomfortable, and still continues to. By your logic, I didn’t need the surgeries to fix the parts that could be fixed either because they are “body modifications.” I could have physically survived without it, it just made functioning much more difficult.

It’s the same thing with being transgender, which has biological routes just like my physical condition does. A physical condition, by the way which was also caused by my brain, specifically damage to it. Thanks to that, my whole body is affected. Did I not need the 30 or so surgeries that I had?

Where did I say that?

Also, so what your saying is that if you are transgender and don’t transition then your bones and muscles will not be strong and functioning probably LOL okay.

30 or so surgeries for being trans? Really wow. That must be some new record because that was never happened in the history of man kind 🙄

Hey Retard! Remember this?

“I have two other neurological conditions,”

No? This is what I said while I was explaining  one of my other two neurological conditions. You know, the one I actually got those 30 surgeries for;which I brought up to demonstrate the flaws in your, “if it doesn’t threaten your life, you don’t need surgery” logic?

I suggest you do three things before you reply to me again:

1. Actually read what I said in my previous reply, and/or stop misrepresenting my argument.

2. Proofread your bullshit before you post it.

3. Stop being so arrogant! Especially when you have to pull some bullshit like this to get people to buy what you’re selling. It’s sad, and I’m 80 percent sure that’s what you’re doing.

In other words, @therealfeministaround:

How to effectively lie to your gender therapist about having dysphoria to start transitioning

First off you’re gonna wanna pull your head out of your ass. It’s gonna take some time because you probably have it lodged waaay up there.

Second off you should stop going to a gender therapist if you don’t even have gender dysphoria because you’re not transgender, your cis.

The fact that you think it’s okay to treat transitioning as a cosmetic process is incredibly transphobic and hurts actual trans people who want insurance companies to help cover the cost of transitions in the future.

So go fuck yourself in your huge attention-seeking asshole.

Well now lets not be too hasty

If these people want to sterilise themselves it may not be so bad for the gene pool.

You have a point there.
