It might be useless saying it (AGAIN), but anybody with sense knows that there isn’t a war on Christmas. It’s not going anywhere, almost everybody celebrates it whether it’s secular or religious, and the decorations and music in public places are inescapable.

But there’s a war on it’s name.

“Happy Holidays”, when used properly, is meant to be inclusive. Two major winter holidays- Hanukah and Kwanzaa- should be acknowledged for those who celebrate them. But there’s a subtle yet very disturbing perversion of this phrase going around. You probably haven’t noticed it. If you listen carefully, most television commercials don’t say “Happy Holidays” or “holiday season”- they say “this holiday” or “the holiday”. They’re using the singular, not the plural.

What this implies is that there’s only ONE holiday, as far as the major department stores and shopping malls are concerned. Also notice that whenever you see “holiday” commercials and store decorations, it’s always traditional symbols of Christmas: trees, snowmen, reindeer, Santa, etc. There’s no token menorah or kinara. So even if they use “Happy Holidays” in the proper plural, they don’t actually mean it- it’s hypocritical.

So what they actually mean 90% of the time is “Christmas”, but they’ve made it into “The-Holiday-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named”.

THERE'S MORE THAN ONE HOLIDAY, YOU MORONS

IF YOU'RE GONNA ONLY REFER TO ONE HOLIDAY, CALL IT "CHRISTMAS", AND DON'T WUSS OUT AND CALL IT THE "HOLIDAY"-

IF YOU'RE GONNA USE A GENERIC TERM, DON'T GO PRETENDING YOU'RE ALL PC AND DENY THERE'S SUCH A THING AS HANUKKAH AT THE SAME TIME JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE AREN'T PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY SAYING

OR AT LEAST CALL IT "THE HOLIDAY SEASON"
