I’m beginning to wonder if our YouTube channel isn’t taking off like we really think it should is because we don’t do what everybody else does.
I don’t do face reveals because I don’t think showing what we look like would make our videos any better. I don’t say “LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE IF YOU ENJOYED THIS VIDEO” because I find it dull and kinda annoying when I hear somebody say that. It doesn’t ever motivate me to do so. I would prefer not to have sponsor ads at the end or the beginning of a video, because I always skip it. SMG4 is an exception, because they actually make it funny and entertaining- which is what I would do. (In fact, some of my favorite commercials are those on the Jack Benny radio shows, where Don Wilson interjects his spiel totally tongue-in-cheek, often to the annoyance of the rest of the cast.) It would also absolutely need to be something we would actually use/want, like potato chips or something. I don’t put featured videos on my channel page because I never liked having to pause them whenever I visit someone’s channel. I don’t do pop culture reviews, analyses, theory videos, reactions or top ten lists, because there’s already hundreds of channels that do that already, and I wouldn’t have anything new to say about it. That said, I have some ideas for this sort of video because I’ve thought of something that nobody seems to talk about, but I might do this on another channel entirely (I won’t say why because it’d spoil it).
...Things might change once I get another external hard drive to increase my disc space and start using ToonBoom Storyboard Pro to create animatics for our cartoon concepts.
