“Missing No” Cookies Found at trsrockin.com
Dunkaroos' Sydney
Funny thing is, I never actually got the chance to have Dunkaroos as a kid, but I remember the commercials very well
I get a package of treats for Christmas every year from a distant cousin who works at Tokyo Disneyland, and I swear, Japanese cookies and chocolates are so weird. I understand that a lot of people there are lactose intolerant, and that might explain the peculiar texture for some of them, but it doesn’t really fully explain it, especially some of the oddities I’ve had over the years. It’s like, this is almost a cookie, but not quite??
I mean, they still taste really good, and the tins they come in are really nice, but it’s just not what I’m used to.
Officially eating pumpkin food (pumpkin spice and pumpkin cheesecake cookies)
It is now autumn
So I just had Hydrox cookies for the first time in fifteen years.
In case you don’t know, Hydrox is a chocolate sandwich cookie that actually predates Oreos. It was discontinued some time ago, but last year or so it made a comeback. The buzz is that it’s got more chocolate than Oreos, and many people prefer them because of that.
My Grandma used to give us Hydrox, but she kept them for so long that they went stale, because I’m pretty sure she got them only because of us, so my impression of them was slightly skewed. However, for pure nostalgia’s sake (and the hype about their superior taste), I wanted to try ‘em again.
And I’m impressed with every aspect! They are indeed more chocolatey, and with real cane sugar, it makes them far more flavorful. It’s been said that they have less cream in the center, but I thought it was just the right amount- more than I expected. They even have less of a tendency to stick to your teeth.
I was dubious about a few things in this commercial when it first came out (too many to list here), but it's got its good points.
