Shout out to my disabled transmascs who can't bind even if you want to. Who want to, maybe even used to, but who's bodies won't let them. For those where it will cause pain, it will cause breathing issues, it will trigger sensory issues, it will be unbearable. Toughest dudes out there.

Hi, this is how I wrap presents for people with lower fine motor control; it could be older people, younger people, people with disabilities.
You can use ribbon you already have for wrapping present, and I measured around the item I am about to wrap leaving a little bit of room for the handle.
I taped the beginning end of the ribbon to the box and then loop back the extra ribbon to make a handle, and it should look something like this
You can wrap pretty much like you normally do as long as you make sure that the handle is exposed .
You could even tie something onto the handle for extra support
All done!

Punctuation and spacing was added for readability but all the text is verbatim.
You don’t know how much effort I went to to find this
UNfriendly reminder to look at disabled people when you’re talking to us or asking questions about us.
Don’t look at our caregivers, don’t look at our partners. Look at us.
Even if we need a caregiver’s help to respond, we still deserve the same respect you’d offer anyone else.
i wish people understood the different between having the raw capability to do something and having the physical and/or mental ability to do it. like, can i toast a muffin? yes. can i stand for hours toasting muffins & doing similar tasks, at a fast pace, in a loud, crowded environment, interacting/collaborating with other people, for 40 hrs a week? no.
Also the difference between the actual ability to do something vs the consequences of doing it. Like, physically most days I CAN climb a flight of stairs. However the consequences are pain and fatigue that I don’t consider worth it. It would also likely mean there would be little else I could do that day. Just cause you see me push my limits occasionally when I absolutely have to, doesn’t mean it’s consequence free and now an excuse for you to call me lazy when I say I can’t do those things
Also just because i know theoretically how to do something doesn't mean i can always mentally put them together and get my brain and my body to collaborate in to do it. If you take the toasting a muffin example, i know how to toast a muffin. But there are times where even though i know how to toast a muffin i still can't do it. Brain fog is fucking awful
Also to add: some days there are days when I could toast a muffin if the muffin, toaster, and toppings were next to my bed. Other days I could do it if they were in my room but not next to my bed, most days currently in the kitchen is fine but down the road at the bus stop wouldn't be. I'm so grateful my uni have allowed me to continue hybrid learning now everyone is face-to-face so I can choose where I toast my metaphorical muffin.
But anyways metaphorical muffin aside. If you relate to this post and have the means to I recommend having a little bedroom hygiene kit that can stay next to your bed for the really bad days where you just need *something* to do that feels vaguely normal. Some wet wipes, a travel sized deodorant, chewing gum, mints, or toothpaste tablets, and a comb or hairbrush goes a hell of a lot further than you'd realise on days where getting *out* of bed is the hard part.
Hey! So I'm writing a fanfic rn, can one resch up with a cane? I know it would put alot of extra weight onto his other wrist, but I obviously don't know how bad that would be so yeah
You can indeed!! It provides extra balance (and definitely does put extra weight on the balance hand). I use mine sometimes to reach things I can't that are on higher shelves to knock them in a position that's easier to get to because the moment of wobbliness is worth not having to reach up as far.
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that 30+ brands of nutrition drinks including but not limited to Ensure, Pediasure, Glucerna, Oatly, and Premier Protein just got recalled for possible contamination with the bacteria that causes botulism, a paralytic toxin with a lethal dose of 1.3 nanograms. If you've purchased one of the affected lot numbers please return it to the store to be properly disposed of as a biohazard but do not accept any compensatory gift cards because that can be counted as a settlement if you need to file a lawsuit over for any potential damages caused by this later on. If you have any questions regarding the recall there's a phone number listed in the article above that you can call, but if you believe you may have ingested toxins then please call your local poison control line. Stay safe
If y'all wouldn't mind boosting this that would be great. Many disabled people including myself and several of my friends drink these brands to help with diabetes/nutritional definiciencies/etc, and a lot of these brands are also popular choices for senior citizens, young children, and athletes. If someone happens to get a bottle that's contaminated with botulism (especially if they're disabled, elderly, or a child) a single sip could potentially kill them
To clarify, when I say "don't accept compensatory gift cards" I don't mean you can't get a refund. You can still get the item refunded but if they say "oh we're so sorry that this happened, let us give you a $20 gift card as well to make it up to you" turn that gift card down. If later on it turns out that you were affected and you try to sue the company for medical bills and damages the company can claim that you already reached a settlement of $20 with them and you're no longer able to sue. This is done in some companies both for recalls of dangerous substances and for on-property injuries that the company could be held liable for. Don't fall for it
