imagine rey seeing rain for the first time like she’s on luke’s jedi island and it starts to rain and it’s not a thunderstorm but it’s not exactly a drizzle either and rey has never seen that much water just falling freely from the sky and she wants to go outside and let the rain soak her skin and hair but space jesus savior of the galaxy jedi master Luke Skywalker is sitting right behind her and it’s probably un-jedi-like to want to play in the rain but rey looks behind her and luke’s mouth is quirked up in a tiny smile that makes rey forget the myth and see the idealistic naive farmboy from tatooine that legends tell of and luke nods at her ‘go on’ so rey stands up but she takes luke’s hand in hers first and pulls him outside with her and luke stands outside letting the rain soak his skin (the feeling never gets old) and watches rey dance and shriek happily in the rain stars in her eyes and in her laughter and he remembers the first time he too saw rain

A Mashup of Calvin and Hobbes and Star Wars: The Force Awakens by Brian kesinger
ahhhhh how young was he when he when—- aughhh
Am I the only who really like Maz Kanata as a Character and her Design? Like REALLY liked her?
You not alone!
Consider this: Finn stealing a fry off of Rey’s plate because he heard that’s a cute thing couples do and he wants to balance out their “I’LL SAVE YOU!” emotional intensity with some cute things, only Rey freezes and Finn’s like, shit, I just stole food from someone who grew up without it, what Attack Mode did I just activate. But then she just fucking dumps all of her food on his plate all “I’LL FEED YOU, YOU’LL NEVER GO HUNGRY WITH ME” and they’re right back in the emotional intensity, and Finn doesn’t even like fries that much.
whats worth bringing up is shmi. padme. breha. jaina. beru. they’re literally all murdered. all of them are dead. all the mothers. padme sees her kids once. we never get to see breha and leia interact properly. jaina - hans mom doesn’t even get a mention in the films. they don’t get force ghosts either. so if i want to dare to hope that just for once this franchise is going to priortise a good mother/daughter dynamic then thats what i’m going to do - rey and leia interacting was one of the best parts of tfa i need more and i need them to be happy
i keep seeing posts about the way the “hand-holding” arc developed in the force awakens, with finn unable to function outside a team (hence finn’s compulsive need to watch his partner’s back and check their safety when he’s vulnerable) and rey unable to function when working with companions (hence her being confused at finn’s habit of watching her back and checking her safety) and eventually the two of them end up learning from the other and i love it because finn’s vulnerability and rey’s guardedness are perfect complements and watching them come into contact and blend created some chemistry that was really fun to watch
but then i also see the comments and honestly i’ve really grown tired of hearing millennials talk about how racist their parents and grandparents were and then turn around and basically say “get your hands off that white woman” the first time they see an interracial couple. you’re making your racist granddaddy proud.
and don’t think i missed how some of these same people have mistaken kylo ren literally kidnapping, torturing, and attempting to murder rey as “sexual tension” but see finn reflexively, involuntarily making contact with his teammate when he feels threatened as predatory. apparently rey’s boundaries are being violated when a black man touches her without being cognizant of doing so but when a white man literally knocks her unconscious, straps her to the table on purpose, and tries to forcibly rip thoughts from her head it’s hot. i honestly don’t care how many buzzwords you dress it up in, if you feel this post describes you, you don’t give a shit about rey’s boundaries or autonomy and you’re just using that as a smokescreen so you can dismiss anyone who acknowledges your hatred and fear of black people and interracial relationships.
It’s both hatred of black people and the normalization of white male violence and domination against others as the standard for romance
who put children in charge of the Starkiller?
lookin forward to this scene in episode VIII

I’m slowly becoming more and more convinced by the “Rey is Obi-Wan’s granddaughter” theory and it’s actually very disappointing that there’s a 95% chance she’s Luke’s daughter because narratively and thematically Rey Kenobi would be infinitely more interesting
#imagine: rey and ben reenacting the battle of their grandfathers while one of them is named in honor of the other’s ancestor #a Kenobi succeeding in dragging a fallen Skywalker back to the light #where her grandfather had failed #a Kenobi #pure and faithful and undeniably *good* #the poetry of a Kenobi being in all nine films #and saving the Skywalker clan in all nine of them #rey being called to Anakin’s lightsaber because Obi-Wan was Anakin’s brother in all but blood #and he carried it around with him for twenty years #Rey giving Luke back his father’s lightsaber #in an homage to her grandfather giving it to him for the first time #rey’s first successful (on-screen) attempt at using the force being a mind trick #rey potentially wielding a double-bladed lightsaber and being the first on-screen Light Sider to do so #callbacks to her grandfather fighting Darth Maul #a Skywalker training a Kenobi and bringing us full circle #oh I’ve got feels and it’s probably not even true
Ooh ok I want it, I want it
So obviously Captain Phasma knows Finn’s serial number, but according to the Visual Guide, she makes sure to memorize the serial numbers of ALL the stormtroopers under her command. Every other imperial soldier/officer just seems to say “you there” or barely acknowledge their presence, but here’s their BOSS referring to them by the closest thing they’ve got to a name. She GIVES them an identity, and refers to them as an individual.
Also, apparently the reason she doesn’t hang out in the control room with Hux and Ren is because she voluntarily takes patrols of the base. She doesn’t think she’s above normal duties - she feels what her men do is important and helps out, too.
And think back to when Solo and Finn have her captured. She shows utmost faith in her men - those same stormtroopers everybody laughs about how useless they are - she BELIEVES in them. “You can’t possibly be so stupid as to think this will be easy. My troops will storm this block and kill you all.” She’s pissed. But she has such faith in her men that she TURNS OFF the shield JUST so they’ll know where to come. She doesn’t hesitate! She KNOWS they can do this!
Listen I’m not saying she’s the kind of boss that has memorized every trooper’s birthday, but MAYBE cupcakes just MYSTERIOUSLY SHOW UP in the break room on those days.
I AM HERE FOR THIS
remember, FN-2187 was a sanitation worker back on the base, but Phasma knew his number by heart and recognized him in different clothing when he held her up. she cares about every member of her team, even the ones most commanders would barely acknowledge
she murdered everyone in an entire village
Ok I love all the Kylo Ren jokes (human trashbag, complete monster, Emo Teen) but like
According to the novel Ben was ten years old when he left home to train with Luke, and fifteen when he destroyed Luke’s Jedi temple
So that means Snoke tempting him to the Dark Side would have involved a lot less offering untold cosmic power; and a lot more child-grooming, and subsequently absconding with a preteen boy
Idk about you but that skeeves me out
Oh noooooo
for bonus:
He had trouble believing what he was hearing. “So Snoke was watching our son.”
“Always,” she told him. “From the shadows, in the beginning, even before I realized what was happening, he was manipulating everything, pulling our son toward the dark side.”
We don’t know the details for sure, but if the movies go with this, Snoke was definitely grooming Ben from … infancy, pretty much.
There’s also that scene where Snoke tells Ben that he’s trained other people, but nobody like Ben because he’s special. D: D: D:
On a completely serious note, it actually 100% explains the tantrums. When you’re groomed from a really young age (and are hurt at a young age), your maturity in dealing with stressors can be developmentally delayed, and your ability to deal (in general) becomes extremely… fragile. You don’t develop proper coping mechanisms at a critical stage in your development, and even if you’re removed from the stressor your inability cope with them can affect you all throughout your adulthood. A lot of people lash out in anger, because lashing out in anger is what children do. They never really developed past that (mentally), which is kind of why Kylo/Ben acts like he’s 16 when he’s closer to 30. Honestly its pretty tragic.
I’ve pointed this out too and this is why his back story that we know of is so disturbing to me. Especially when you take into account that Kylo seems very telepathically Force sensitive and Leia took precautions to keep him away from Snoke, which means about the only way he really could have influenced him that much was he was LITERALLY rattling around inside his head. You get the impression Kylo had next to no peace and even though the people he loved were telling him one thing, he also couldn’t get away from what was going on in his head. It’s no wonder he keeps saying he’s torn apart and shows a lot of conflict. It wasn’t a case like Anakin where Palpatine used his own flaws on him to pretty much manipulate a headstrong young man. Snoke’s influence was much more aggressive and much younger on Ben.
He’s her boyfriend
“I like that Wookie” was basically my favorite line in the entire film.
i’m not standing still i am lying in wait
