How To Get A Job Fast As Hell

 @owenabbott

  • Apply to a  job, wait (1) day, then call.  Give them your first and last name. Tell them you submitted an application and that you’re very motivated to find [Enter field name] work. Let the conversation lead you wherever it takes. Be very polite. Say” thank you for your time, I’ll be looking forward to hearing back from you.” Rinse, repeat. This is to force them to be looking out for your application.
  •  When you get to the interview, shake their hand firmly,  tell them your first and last name.
  • Describe your experiences  as “ two years transcription and data entry” if you have a desk job interview and “ [however many years]  costumer service, retail and stock” for your retail jobs.
  • Don’t use job “ buzz words” I stg they hear them all day. Say  things like, “ I’m detail oriented and am very good at taking instruction.”  “ I would like to work for a company with integrity and I feel that [ company name] would be a good fit”
  • When they ask you if you have “reliable transportation” say  YES. don’t tell them what kind of transportation, just say yes. (if you don’t do this, you wont get the job , I’m telling you right now).
  • Research the company. Know what they do, why they do it, how OLD the company is. WHERE it was founded, and what kind of position you’re intending to apply for.
  • When they ask you “ give us a situation where you had to blah blah blah” Make one the fuck up. Make yourself sound good as hell, and like you put your company’s needs slightly above the customer’s needs, but make the customer happy.
  • If they ask you about being outgoing, Say you “like to focus on your work so you can concentrate on doing things right” (which buys you out of having to act friendly all the time)

Questions for after the interview:

1.  Does this position offer upward mobility?

2. Do you enjoy working for the company? (if you’re not interviewing for a temp agency who will send you anywhere)

  •  Then, shake their hand,  Ask them to repeat their name (REMEMBER THIS) say thank you for your time, wish them a nice day and leave. write their name down outside if you have to, just remember the fuck out of it.
  • AFTER your interview, send a card directed to the name of the person who interviewed you (I’ll give you them) that says “Thank you for the interview, I appreciate the opportunity. have a great day” This shows  that you have an understanding of professionalism, and will have them thinking of you kindly (or at least remembering you) when they’re shuffling through the choices.
  • DO NOT tell them you just moved to the city over the phone.  In person, tell them you just moved to the city. Make it sound like the only reason you need a job is because you moved. Not because you’re desperate.

there are so many robots in tales of the abyss and i need to talk about them right now

image
image

this one is a little plush doll that grows big and beats people up

this one is a peaceful maintenance bot that has been working by itself for thousands of years without any thanks until you have to destroy it and steal its power source (it is very sad)

image
image

this one is a stUPID LITTLE ASSHOLE who makes a dramatic exit by jumping off the side of a boat and accidentally drowning itself. he is the only sentient robot. nobody says anything about the fact that he’s sentient. it’s just accepted

this one is dist’s first robot that you fight and it has a trumpet for a nose uvu

image

this one’s got a BIG CUTE FACE AND IS COVERED IN FLOWERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY IMPORTANT ROBOT

this one is very dramatic and it also has a machine gun for a penis

Sessions committee vote is tomorrow morning, Jan. 31

Call your senators bright and early, ESPECIALLY if they’re on the judicial committee (listed below).  Call them every day and demand they vote no on the grounds that Jeff Sessions is unlikely to act in the interests of all Americans based on his history.  Pressure Manchin (D-WV) especially as he was going to vote yes on Sessions’ confirmation, but is turning around.

The judicial committee is unlikely to kill the confirmation so we’re looking at a full Senate vote, which the Republicans will win if several do not cross the aisle.  If your senator is wavering, push them towards no.

As a reminder, Stephen Miller, the guy who is partly responsible for Trump’s inauguration speech, the guy who’s Richard Spencer’s good buddy, and the guy who basically drafted the Muslim ban, is a former Sessions staffer (chief of communications).  The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

  • CHUCK GRASSLEY (Chairman) R-Iowa (202)224-5225
  • DIANNE FEINSTEIN (Ranking Member) D-California (202) 224-3841
  • ORRIN HATCH R-Utah (202) 224-5251
  • PATRICK LEAHY D-Vermont (202) 224-4242 (confirmed to be voting no; call him and encourage or thank him for voting no)
  • LINDSEY GRAHAM R-South Carolina (202) 224-5972
  • DICK DURBIN D-Illinois (202) 224-2152
  • MICHAEL LEE Utah (202) 224-5444
  • AMY KLOBUCHAR D-Minnesota (202) 224-3244
  • TED CRUZ R-Texas (202) 224-5922
  • AL FRANKEN D-Minnesota (202) 224-5641
  • BEN SASSE R-Nebraska (202) 224-4224
  • CHRISTOPHER COONS D-Delaware (202) 224-5042
  • JEFF FLAKE R-Arizona (202) 224-4521
  • RICHARD BLUMENTHAL D-Connecticut (202) 224-2823
  • MIKE CRAPO R-Idaho (202) 224-6142
  • MAZIE HIRONO D-Hawaii (202) 224-6361
  • THOM TILLIS R-North Carolina (202) 224-6342
  • JOHN KENNEDY R-Louisiana (202) 224-4623
  • JOHN CORNYN R-Texas (202) 224-2934

Keep calling and pressuring your senators not to vote for Sessions and DeVos.  Meanwhile, tune in right now to watch Mazie Hirono precision butcher Jeff Sessions.

Sen. Durbin literally gave Sessions the book White Rage.  Fucking epic.

Action Items: Some Things You Can Do

Hi, all; here’s a list of things you can do to help people and to minimize harm in this time.

Find protests:

Check out left wing/progressive/socialist meet spaces on https://www.meetup.com. Many of them will have a protest or get you in contact with people who might know when or where protests are. Show up to them. Be seen.

Donate food or clothes to foodbanks and local charities, and volunteer there too if you can. Poor people are going to suffer after this, and will need support.

Vote: vote locally, vote left, vote in the smallest elections. See if people are even running for seats– city council, school council, board comptrollers. A town in Virginia had almost nobody run this year. You can run for these positions, and if not you, find a friend who might do it. This is where tides turn. Maybe. Vote in 2017, 2018.

Write your Representatives: This is probably not the strongest option seeing as many of these guys know that they didn’t get fucking voted out this time. But hopefully knowing they have eyes on their backs will make them pause before they vote through bigoted stuff.

It’s best, if you can, to write actual, physical letters. They are more of a pain in the ass to political staff– you have to open them, read them, and digitize them, rather than emails which can generally be clicked and saved and ignored. Write a ton of letters. Organize a write in if you can. Flood offices.

Here’s a sample letter:

Dear [name];
I’m calling on you, as a voter and a citizen, to do all in your power to block anti-immigration, anti-LGBT, racist, sexist, and xenophobic laws that might be put into pass by our future government. President Elect Donald J Trump did not win my vote, and did not win the popular vote: he was not voted in by a majority of Americans. My friends and my family will be directly affected by the results of this election and it is up to you to ensure that America remains diverse and accepting. Know that we will be watching your actions in these coming years and we will take action.
This presidency will have ramifications that will last 30 years, and I ask you consider that, as you consider the sway of the electorate in the next four years as well.
Sincerely,
[Name]

You can use a similar script if you call. Make sure you know that your representative knows that this was a fluke, not an outcome to expect again. Even if it’s not true, putting pressure on representatives might influence future decisions.

Sometimes it’s good to take even simple or small actions to avoid falling into a pit of despair. Be safe, everyone.
