Spells and Incantations

So I was looking at Biden’s plans to help people with disabilities. Here’s some stuff he wants to do that would make a big, measurable difference:

- Increasing SSI benefits to at least 100% of the Federal Poverty Line (at the moment, this would be an increase of about $3000/year. That would be REALLY HELPFUL.)

- Increase the asset limits for SSI and SSDI - which haven’t been increased in more than 35 years. Right now if you have more than $2000 at any time, you lose your benefits.

- Marriage equality for disabled people! - For people on SSI be able to get married without losing our benefits! (As it stands right now, you can lose your benefits even if they suspect you’re ACTING like you’re married - the “holding out as married” rule.)

I’m about out of spoons tonight, but go read it! If even SOME of it gets passed, it could be really good!

This is in contrast to the Republican position, which is *checks notes* “If they’re going to die, they’d better do it, and decrease the surplus population”.

(Seriously, if Trump gets re-elected, I, and many other disabled people, will be so entirely fucked. He wants to destroy Social Security, I would be homeless and starving in the streets.)

every time you say that there’s no difference between trump and biden, every time you say that voting is pointless, every time you say that you won’t vote for the lesser of two evils, you’re saying that disabled lives don’t matter.

what really gets me about the argument that “americans are so selfish they can’t even care about others enough to stop the virus” is that we fucking did. the vast majority of americans, at great personal and financial cost to ourselves, went inside and distanced and took precautions and isolated and changed our lives to slow the spread and keep our loved ones and strangers safe. we did that for months, even when the government offered piss poor assistance and unemployment skyrocketed and food bank lines lengthened and the death counts climbed and parents with young children reached a breaking point, we still did it. the polling still shows that the vast majority of americans are more worried about easing restrictions too soon even if it hurts the economy. americans give a shit. we care. we made the sacrifices to give our government the time to figure out and implement a plan — to find a way to keep us safe and as healthy as possible and to use the power of the federal government to protect small businesses and feed our children and put a roof over our heads and create education campaigns to get people to socially distance and wear a mask for fucks sake. we did that, and at the end of months of sacrifice they decided that it wasn’t worth the trouble and have left us at the whims of our governors and local officials, left us at the mercy of our employers, left us to die.

americans aren’t selfish — our minority-rule government is — and it’s left us to die.

We DO care! Even the ones who have to go outside and work care, it is the government that doesn't care and this forces people to go out and work and risk their lives because their government doesn't care enough about giving them enough money to live off of while staying indoors. We care, but we also need money to survive because we still have rent to pay, taxes, family to feed, etc. And very little to none of this is provided for us by the government during this pandemic.

can anyone confirm that trump has witches working for/protecting him or is it just another urban legend

probably so, I'd say there are witches for all sides, just makes casting protection wards for yourself before doing spell work that affects anything political that much more important. be safe!
