Don’t you understand that I can’t?
when sarah thinks she randomly meets a cute guy but it’s CLEARLY jareth under a glamour spell
Damn. I can never remember that line.
Labyrinth (1986) dir. Jim Henson
Hello! I hope you don't mind me asking, but why do you think that scene in the tunnel was when Sarah fell for Jareth? I agree with you (and love your "#anyway this was the moment sarah fell for him#change my mind" tags about it), I'm just really curious about your perspective/interpretation of it.
Hey! There really wasn’t much thought process behind the tag. It’s sort of in the way she looks at him walking away from her I guess?
She seems in awe of Jareth and the way he speaks. We all know Sarah is big on theatrics and fairytale language. Jareth talks the way the characters in her books talk, so when he says, “I wonder what your basis for comparison is”, Sarah looks almost impressed (or stunned) by the line. She could see herself reciting that line in the park like she would with the ‘you have no power over me’ speech.
So it’s in that moment that I think she grows quite a bit of admiration/love for the goblin king- even though he’s the villain she’s suppose to defeat.
That’s not fair! You say that so often, I wonder what your basis for comparison is.

“She moved hurriedly around the ballroom looking for Jareth. She did not know why she wanted to find him, or what she would say to him. She just knew that it was vitally important that she should find him.”

Everything that you wanted I have done. You asked that the child be taken. I took him. You cowered before me, I was frightening. I have reordered time. I have turned the world upside down, and I have done it all for y o u. I am exhausted from living up to your expectations. Isn’t that generous?
