i've been scrolling through your old asks and i can't find the info so many i missed it: which ep has the Honerva/Zarkon cameo that you think will parallel the Sheith pre-kerberos cameo?
It’s from Space Mall, where you see Shiro glimpsing into Black’s memories, but Honerva and Zarkon are also there together in the background!
It’s a tiny thing, but still very intentional–and it foreshadows how they eventually get their own backstory of how they met, fell in love, and fell apart
And because we get a similar background cameo of sheith–and it was important enough that Joaquim congratulated fans for noticing and Lauren literally got so excited she went, “I put that shit in there,” before adding that “Shiro was his guiding light,” while Joaquim and Jeremy teased we’d get more backstory–I really do believe it’s a sign that we’re getting the whole sheith prekerberos history. And given all the parallels between sheith and zaggar already, I wouldn’t be surprised if their flashback episode built up into a love story as well.
I also think just the concept of Kerberos is a deliberate narrative parallel because we’ve got tons of similarities there–a galra who’s pretty withdrawn and keeps their walls up before they meet someone who manages to “soften” them up and change their life. Letting that person in when they never had anyone else only to lose them–Haggar through the rift and Shiro during Kerberos. Both Keith and Zarkon being faced with the reality that their loved one is dying–causing them to lash out and take drastic measures. Zarkon doing everything in his power to rescue Honerva, Keith reacting to Shiro’s death in such a way the garrison kicks him out. Both Zarkon and Keith isolating themselves as they mourn. And then, the inevitable reunion when Zarkon and Keith’s loved ones “come back from the dead”–both of which end up being inexorably tied to Voltron.
