“Focus on the bottle,” Kris said, standing back to give her space.

“Think about it turning to ice.” She tried, she really did. Tried to feel the cold inside her body, to visualize it bursting from her fingertips, affecting the object in front of her. She even put her arm out, gesturing like a kid playing make-believe. But nothing happened. After a moment she began to feel stupid holding her arm outstretched like that. For all she knew, Kris was just pulling an elaborate prank on her.

“It’s not working,” she pointed out in frustration. “I can’t do it.” She wasn’t sure if that made her feel disappointed or relieved.

“Hmm,” Kris hummed. They walked to her side and stood behind her shoulder, looking down her arm at the bottle. “Maybe you’re not tense enough.”

Finally got Chapter 4 up! It took me three weeks, but I really poured my heart into this one. It would mean the world to me if you gave it a watch. Best enjoyed with headphones!

“Maybe I should be careful,” Kris teased her. “If I keep letting you and Susie hang out, I might end up as the third wheel in this fun little gang of ours.”

Noelle stopped walking, and it took Kris a second to realize and stop as well. “It’s not up to you to let me do anything.”

She followed their gaze to the confessional along the far wall – essentially a wooden box split into two small booths, a door on each side. It took her a second to process what Kris was suggesting, and when it clicked, her first reaction was panic. Getting in that box, in an enclosed space with them, talking to them like they were some kind of priest and she was confessing her sins…

No. No way. It wasn’t right.
