I need a fic where Damian breaks up with Jon abruptly for no apparent reason other than his own selfishness. Jon EVENTUALLY (it takes months) gets over it but he still is tuned into Dami's heartbeat and still loves it. And one day after his mum sets him up with another intern at the Daily Planet she goes home to find Damian at her dinner table (Clark isn't there and he really doesn't like him). Damian explains that the date (let's call him Gary?) has no real background, and Lois needs to keep Jon safe after all Damians done for him, Jon's been more and more reckless recently and it's not on. That's when she sees how tired and bruised/beat up he looks (Cass has given him kitten plasters), "Damian explain yourself to me. You can do that. I won't tell anyone, just let me understand", she uses a bit of her journalism manipulation and he breaks. "My mother found him, which would have been fine but then my grandfather found him. To bribe me they'll let him live but if I don't become the Demons Head they'll keep sending assassins. My lot have been keeping him safe." Lois encourages him to tell Jon but he won't, Jon's taken a break from Superboy until he finishes college, why would he want to mess with his studies?

The fic ends with Jon going on the date with mysterious Gary and as he's walking Jon home (down an alley) he pulls some kryptonite from somewhere(?) and goes to stab him. Damian saves Jon and shouts at him for being so reckless these past months, but the fight doesn't last long as assassins turn up. Jon, bless him, is super confused but kicks ass anyway and demands an explanation. Damian sighs and gives him one, "I'm sorry I hurt you but I had to." He goes to turn away but Jon doesn't let him and they smooch
