Tuesday, June 19, 2012 continued... Route 66 in Odell, Illinois. Just a little more pleasant to drive than the interstate, don't you think? "The Fine Art photography of Frank Romeo." Look for my Route 66 Galleries here: http://frank-romeo.pixels.com/

Tuesday, June 19, 2012 continued... Route 66 in Illinois still winds through a green countryside. This old shield hung on a fence across 66 from the Standard Oil gas station in Odell. One of my favorite photos. "The Fine Art photography of Frank Romeo." Look for my Route 66 Galleries here: http://frank-romeo.pixels.com/
Tuesday, June 19, 2012 continued... Farm Stuff in Odell, Illinois. I walked a short block from the restored Standard Oil gas station on Route 66 for this view. "The Fine Art photography of Frank Romeo." Look for my Route 66 Galleries here: http://frank-romeo.pixels.com/
Tuesday, June 19, 2012 continued... Out of place Amoco gas pump at the Mobil Station in Odell, Illinois. The pump is also out of time, as the pump pricing can't handle more than a 99 cent gallon of gas. From a time when gas at a dollar a gallon was absolutely unheard of. Tuesday, June 19, 2012 continued... One of my images from the closed Mobil Station in Odell, Illinois. Processed in black and white, which works so well for many Route 66 pics. "The Fine Art photography of Frank Romeo." Look for my Route 66 Galleries here: http://frank-romeo.pixels.com/
Tuesday, June 19, 2012 continued... A closed down Mobil Station on old 66 in Odell, Illinois. No, the pump out front doesn't match, but nobody cares. Still less than 100 miles from our starting point in Chicago we've seen all kinds of old road attractions on this first day out, with a lot more to come. "The Fine Art photography of Frank Romeo." Gas Station, Odell, Illinois, 2012. Fading away on old Route 66, but there was a time when an attendant would bounce out of that door and clean your windshield. Now he won't even pump your gas. (Unless you fill up in New Jersey.) My 2007 Route 66 trip was a planned drive on the old highway from Oklahoma City (where my 2006 trip ended) to Santa Monica, and it was a great success. Then, with some free time in Chicago on my way home to New Jersey, I took a quick, spur of the moment drive on 66 in Illinois. I recently dug out some film images from that Illinois drive, and found some neat stuff. Standard Oil Gasoline Station, Odell, Illinois, 2007. The less fortunate of two gas stations one passes on old 66 in Odell, Illinois, the only restoration I can see at this fading Mobil station is a competitors pump. From 2012.
