@latefortevinter commissioned more Dorxus fic from me, giving free reign to write what I liked for them because she’s exceptionally generous and knows I love her child. So here’s the final chapter of the ME/DA crossover where Dorian is trying to get to Earth to save Vax during the Reaper invasion.

The video feed cut out in an abrupt flash of crimson light. Dorian had his arms braced against the console, his shoulders pressing him forward toward the static as if he might reclaim what he’d lost. He stared at the grey lines tumbling together, carrying the muffled sound of realization as he waited, eyes wide, in front of the screen.
“Get it back.”
“Sir?”
“Get. It. Back.”
The crewman swallowed, looking around at the rest of the crew for assistance. No one came to his aid. “Um, sir, I don’t think I-”
Dorian grabbed the man’s collar, hands shaking. His voice was a desperate growl. “You will get that feed back on line, or Maker help me I will lock you in the FTL drive and pilot this ship to Earth myself!”
“Science Officer Pavus.” Weapons powered on. “Release him or you will find yourself in the brig.”
Dorian looked up at the captain, flanked by her first officer and a security guard.
“We all have loved ones on Earth. If we are going to help them, we need you back in engineering preparing for the battle, not threatening the lives of the rest of my crew.”
Had none of them seen it? Had no one else been listening? People weren’t just under attack, they were getting slaughtered! This wasn’t like any war they’d fought before, regardless of whether they were krogan, salarian, or turian. No one had battled the Reapers and survived. No one except Shepard, and by now, they were probably as good as dead too.
The captain waited, eyebrow raised as she awaited his decision. If he were thrown into the brig now, it would be over. There may not have been a guarantee that Dorian could help Vaxus, but there was more of a chance if he remained free to move about the ship without a guard. He released his grip.
“Thank you. Please return below decks to prepare. We will be entering the inner system in thirty minutes.”
Dorian scoffed under his breath as he brushed by the security guard. They didn’t need him in engineering. The captain had never liked the idea of putting his theories into practice with the ship’s drive or their stock of element zero, and he doubted she would let him get anywhere near enough to try now.
The elevator door slid open and Dorian stepped inside. He turned to face the bridge as his hand hovered over a button.
The captain turned toward him. “You will have your time, Pavus. I promise you.”
At my command and not before. That was what she’d meant. He pressed the button, his mind set. The door closed and took him down.
