Sam and Jack parallels: 4/???? growing up without their mothers
i put t o o m u c h on your shoulders, i made you grow up t o o f a s t. you took care of sammy, you took care of me. you did that, and you didn’t complain, not once. i just want you to know that i am so proud of you.
“I am grateful, but… you were well away. Why come back?” A dozen quips came to mind, each crueler than the one before, but Jaime only shrugged.
Working on my recap and I suddenly start thinking again about Sam tearing up at the end and how the last thing in the world he would have ever wanted was for Dean to have to experience what it’s like to be taken over while another entity hurts you and uses your body to do terrible things.
Demons, angels, the Devil, and so on… Sam knows that pain. Him crying for his brother suffering like that killed me as much as Dean’s own pain at what he went through did. He’s so empathetic and understanding, and he’s pushing Dean to open up, to deal, to talk because he knows what it’s like to bury it (he has for years) and what that does to you. And because he needs his big brother; he hasn’t properly taken care of himself for weeks.
What I wouldn’t give for a scene where Sam and Dean could both share with each other (or at least acknowledge how they can relate) their experienced trauma from being possessed and all that entails. No, what each went through isn’t 100% the same, but Sam understands better than anyone what Dean is going through. He’s been there a few times and he just wants to be there for his brother :((((
