urgent!(ish) my mom was looking through my friend's signiatures in my yearbook and she saw that some of them referred to me as a guy (I am afab trans guy) she said it was "offensive" and know she's mad at me (my dad is out of town) what can I do to calm her down?

Devon says:

Here are some things you could say to her:

  • It’s an inside joke with your friends
  • Some people were confused about whose yearbook they were signing (if you have a cis guy friend with the same name that your mom knows you as)
  • You are comfortable as a woman and she doesn’t have to worry about you being a guy
  • You are a guy... come out as trans
  • Try to have a conversation with her about why she finds it “offensive”

Don’t come out as trans if you don’t feel safe doing so.

Hello :) I am kind of genderfluid - actually I'm still figuring out, but anyways... I was born as a female. I don't usually feel the necessity to wear a binder, but I like to wear men's clothes (sry dad lol). As a result, boobs get kinda in the way... So shirts are usually a bit too short, and if I pick a bigger one, it's too large. Do you have any advice on how to fix this?

Devon says:

You could get a binder and only wear it sometimes, like when you’re wearing a shirt that would fit better with a flatter chest. You could also try a compression sports bra.

Our transmasculine resources page has some stuff that might be helpful to you, under the section called “Clothes.”

You could wear masculine “women’s” shirts... They will be tailored to fit with a larger chest better than “men’s” shirts do. Here’s a post about finding masculine clothes in the women’s section of a store.

Followers, reply to this post if you have worn “men’s” shirts with a larger chest without binding and how you got that to work!
