PSA: so basically english language wikipedia (specifically articles about holocaust in poland) has been methodically reshaped into a worthless ahistorical propaganda garbage dump by a group of extremely dedicated polish nationalists working together for years, steering wikipedia away from credible academia researchers citations into made-up academics and vicious antisemites. all to make up poles into the most valiant spotless helpers and victims and downplay the plight of the jewish people in ww2. all of it while avoiding consequences from wikipedia admins, not versed enough in eastern europe history complexities to catch them red handed.
i knew polish wikipedia was a lost project full of not-even-pretending-to-be-neutral-point-of-view history propaganda but to see that the same people pulled the same trick on the biggest wiki (and in my experience usually fairly well scrutinized) of them all is heartbreaking. also obviously if you want to learn literally anything about the holocaust english wikipedia is not your friend and will probably not be for a long time because the damage is THAT wide and far spread.

Anyway after being told that even just owning a cropped/docked dog, not even having signed off on the surgery I just had one that was done prior to me even knowing he existed, was as bad as the fucking Holocaust, by a German person living in Germany, I stopped taking anyone's incredibly stupidly bad takes seriously. Leave people with their already-cropped/docked dogs alone if you hate it so much. You're not going to change anyone's mind by screaming abuse and starting drama, you're just going to make them block you.
Look I have my own pretty strong opinions on cropping and docking, and I think most people seriously misuse prong collars as a replacement for adequate training (it's a tool with a specific use! not something that you use instead of a typical collar!), but as a Jew who lives in Germany, fuck that person very much.
Like, the fact that you owned a cropped and docked animal is not... Hell, I'm very against the practice myself, but what are we supposed to do when the alterations have already been performed? Cropped and docked dogs already exist, and even if the practice was stopped, globally, tomorrow, they would still be around for a while. Was this person legitimately arguing that it'd be more ethical to euthanize them than to make sure they had homes?? I don't know, I'd think mass euthanization isn't really helpful to the argument when one uses a Holocaust comparison but maybe that's just me.
I've got similar shit in the past for wanting to one day adopt old pugs when I'm financially stable. Specifically ones so ill that their owners don't feel capable of looking after them any more but still have some time before quality of life is poor enough that it would be better to put them down. I just want to give them a good end to their lives since they have such terrible genetics. The cripple in me is just very sympathetic to what they go through. Id never be going to breeders or getting young ones.
But apparently even wanting to help a sick animal is supportive of unethical breeding practices. Never mind the fact I also support retro pugs and if I were to ever go to a breeder, I would never get a pug that fits the current standard. But thats not good enough. Opposing unethical breeding apparently means you should also want to kill every sick dog on sight.

This particular person detailed in their callout post starring one Jasper Doberbutts that the problem was not that I personally had him cropped and docked (I didn't) but that I refused to say his breeder had abused him by doing so (because she didn't).
And that, because at the time the honest state of the breed was either to get a cropped/docked dog within this country or import from overseas which costs roughly twice as much, a buyer honestly had to choose between either getting a cropped and docked dog from fully health tested parents with thought-out pedigrees regarding health and longevity... or getting a natural-earred dog (not even usually the tail WHICH IS THE BIT PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT INTERFEREING WITH COMMUNICATION) from a backyard breeder with incomplete health testing and a complete question mark on the pedigree's health and longevity.
And so, since my choice was 'cropped and docked dog from a good breeder' rather than 'natural ears docked tail from a bad breeder', I was complicit in the widescale abuse of dobermans as a breed in North America and other countries that still allow crop/dock, and by definition am guilty of neglect and endangerment because I spent my dollars on a well loved, well cared for animal that happened to have a surgery they didn't like.
When I said I had bigger fish to fry than a surgery I don't care if the dog has or not but wouldn't voluntarily have on a dog if it was my choice, such as 50% of dobermans (hey that number is now a cool 60-70%) dying from DCM and 80% of dobermans dying before reaching age 10 not to mention the rampent amount of cancer and cardio and neurological conditions in the breed as well as all the other fucking health problems AND the breed's failing temperament as a whole, and thus the state of the ears and tail were absolutely dead last on my list of priorities because I'm trying to make sure my dog at least has a chance at a healthy life... that was when the Holocaust comparison came out because it was 'well people said they had more things to worry about than what Hitler was doing to the Jews and look what happened'.
Don't worry when I told them that was a can of worms I was completely unwilling to open and they should feel the same, they just doubled down on it until actual Jewish people who follow my blog yelled at them about it 🤷♂️ then it was 'well I see that's an inappropriate comparison (you think???) but understand it was made out of the passion I have for protecting dogs' 🙄
The best part about all this is that I always, from the beginning, wanted a natural dog and the reason my first two weren't is because it wasn't possible to find a natural dog in the States without importing yet. Now it is. And with luck, in about 4 months there'll be a natural baby coming to my house 🤷♂️ so yelling at me and causing drama and baiting me and writing callout posts about me did literally nothing to ~further the cause~ because I was already unwilling to have it done myself if it was my choice and I was already planning for my next one to be imported before breed politics changed in the last 5 years. And even still this one will be imported!!! I just know them so the price is much better for me because they're aware of how much of a hassle it is to get a natural dog in this country and sympathize even though they themselves are pro-crop/dock.

Buckley wrote of Buchanan: ”I find it impossible to defend Pat Buchanan against the charge that what he did and said during the period under examination amounted to anti-Semitism.” As White House Communications Director, Buchanan urged President Reagan to visit the SS cemetery at Bitburg in Germany, providing an excellent photo-op for neo-Nazis everywhere. According to reports from the time, Buchanan had the unmitigated gall to lecture Jewish leaders who protested that they were “Americans first” and wrote over and over in his notebook one phrase: “Succumbing to the pressure of the Jews.” He wrote Reagan’s line that the SS officers were “victims just as surely as the victims in the concentration camps” – easily one of the most sickening presidential lines in American history. I just saw the weirdest ad on YouTube. I thought it was for a new WWII video game, but it didn’t seem to be selling anything - it looked like some kind of weird pro-Poland propaganda and just said “Poland did a lot to save the Jews” and then ended with a hashtag about Germany.
What… what did I just watch, and why was it on a YouTube video about sea slugs in America?
as far as I can tell, poland has made it illegal (!) to accuse them of being complicit in any nazi activity which occurred on polish soil, most sensible people objected to this, and the polish government are now putting weird propaganda ads on american youtube for unclear reasons

Yeah they’re basically pulling all the propaganda out that they can saying that they weren’t AT ALL complicit in the murder of Jews and Roma along with the Nazis.
This is a part of Poland’s massive push to erase their own complicity in the Holocaust, and in post-Holocaust antisemitic violence. It is part of Poland’s rising antisemitism. It’s not just American youtube, however. It’s also Israeli youtube. So essentially, Poland is targeting the two countries in the world which have the largest Jewish populations today with this propaganda campaign.
There are multiple advertisements doing this.
I have yet to see one, but I will report any if they show up while I’m watching youtube.
