i think villains in general provide better, more epic romances because they're allowed to go to extremes. they're allowed to put their love over the greater good. they're allowed to be selfish. the best a hero can offer you is number two, because their duty comes first. villains, though. villains will burn down the world for a last kiss goodbye.
Yea, sure. Until YOU or people you love are among the victims for someone else’s love and the villains won’t care. Would also like to point out that some villians(Kuvira, for example) have been willing to sacrifice/throw away love interests for their own goals.
idk about you but existing in the real world gives me and my loved ones immunity from the actions of fictional villains. hope you manage to get your family out of star wars.
Uh- are you aware of the meaning of proship?
Proship has never meant anything except a combination of three ideas:
Any other definitions are made by antis, not proshippers, and are an attempt at revisionism to justify harassment based on false claims.
Everyone talking about November 5th but nothing about November 2nd….it’s literally Lawrence, Kansas, 22 years ago today!
What would the LIs do to a chibi PC? I love your blog i read it everyday like it's a newspaper
I'm happy to be your morning newspaper :D
Whitney does keep you close, maybe in his school shirt pocket and his hoodie pocket, and loves to play (in more ways than one) with you when he's bored
Kylar keeps you close at all times, he wants to keep you safe from everything
Robin keeps you in his room, afraid he'd lose you out and about
P!Sydney keeps you with him and loves to have you help around in the library, just simple small things of course
C!Sydney also loves to play with you
Alex is worried he'll lose you in the fields so he keeps you in the cottage but will bring you out when he takes his breaks
Avery has no idea what to do with you. I mean you're a good conversation started and shit but that's it really
Eden keeps you safe in the cabin, you're not allowed to leave

^huge fan of this one in particular. it’s so cute
don’t make me tap the jen silverman essay!!!!
This is literally just the Victorian era all over again, I’ve been saying:
“Mr Oscar Wilde has again been writing stuff that were better unwritten; and while The Picture of Dorian Gray, which he contributes to Lippincott’s, is ingenious, interesting, full of cleverness, plainly the work of a man of letters, it is false art–for its interest is medico-legal; it is false to human nature–for its hero is a devil; it is false to morality–for it is not made sufficiently clear that the writer does not prefer a course of unnatural iniquity to a life of cleanliness, health, and sanity. The story–which deals with matters only fitted for the Criminal Investigation Department or a hearing in camera [nb: out of public scrutiny]–it is discreditable alike to author and editor. Mr Wilde has brains, and art, and style; but if he can write for none but outlawed noblemen and perverted telegraph boys, the sooner he takes to tailoring (or some other decent trade) the better for his own reputation and the public morals.” –WE Henley, Scots Observer, 5 July 1890
Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.
That in turn reminds me of a (substack?) post I can’t track down at the moment, but which said in effect: “We know stories that end in neat moral lessons where good wins and evil is defeated don’t create kinder societies. We know this because the Victorians had a ton of stories like that while being a real-life evil empire.”
I picked ‘Emperor’ rather than the king the fantasy population are waiting to come home because it suggests… something is askew here that is uncritically represented elsewhere. Are you sure the Emperor’s return will be for good…
great job everyone lets hit the showers
Not again
gentle reminder that you can’t get this kind of nonsense from any other site
this is a poem
i couldn’t not draw this
ok…!
babe are you okay, your reblogging the subway rat poem again
It’s been a long week
My obsession over Stan Pines so bad im thinking of watching Rick & Morty (got into stanchez)
ARE YOU TODAY’S DATE?
BECAUSE YOURE 10/10
i’ve waited one year to reblog this
I cannot believe it took me 12 years to become obsessed with gravity falls 😔 I watched it when it came out but I couldn’t give two fucks abt the show. My bestie was so obsessed with it and I was just like “eh, it’s whatever” and now that’s it’s making a comeback I’m suddenly so so so obsessed with Stan
Out of all the characters, I got obsessed with old man Stan 😫 why couldn’t I get obsessed over Ford, or Dipper. But no, I’m obsessed over idiot baby Stan and also, hated by all fandom my girlie Mabel. God I love her so so so so much
unpopular(?) opinion: it annoys the hell out of me when people tag fic about siblings or other family members with stuff like "this isn't incest fuck you if you ship it romantically" or whatever
like buddy. I KNOW it isn't incest. I didn't think it was incest, I wasn't thinking about incest at all in fact, and I would really have liked to have CONTINUED not thinking about incest except every damn author in the tag feels the need to remind me about it constantly. people who do this shove incest ships into my face way more than actual incest shippers do because they won't fucking stop talking about how much they don't ship incest.
please just tag your fic with the things it DOES contain and don't worry about the things it DOESN'T, okay. I promise you no one's gonna think your fic is full of secret incest even if you don't spend 30 minutes decrying it in the tags before every fic.
In a similar vein, I avoid reading things tagged No Underage Sex. The vast majority of the things I read does not contain underage sex, but if an author is so afraid of the concept that someone might think they would write underage sex that they feel the need to tag for its absence, they're too anxious about it for my taste.
My avoidance is only reinforced by the fact that in my circles, "No Underage Sex" is occasionally code for "No one admits they want each other till the younger party is 18 years and 1 second old," which is what you get when people are squicked by underage lust, but not by age gaps. Pretending that there's no attraction before the object of affection is 18.0000001 is perfectly valid as a kink and diametrically opposed to many of my kinks, which involve people owning their kinks.
Now I'm wondering how often people write "Relatives, e. g. Dean and Sam Winchester, discover that they're not biologically related which makes it okay for them to bone down, so they do, despite having believed that they shared genes until the Ancestry.com test came back," which seems similar in disingenous-to-me effect.
Write what you want to write. Tag appropriately so that people who want it can find it and people who don't want it can give it a pass. Accept that the vast majority of the people in the fandom, let alone the world, aren't going to read it no matter how good it is.
I've seen this same thing with art posted on Tumblr. People will be like, "this is PLATONIC so don't be a freak and tag it as a ship" or whatever and I'm just like. Babe. Sweet summer child. You can NEVER control how anyone else interprets any kind of art. And you put that on the internet, so now it's completely out of your hands. That image or fic or gifset will mean whatever other people want it to mean in their heads and you just have to accept that.
And honestly, I think that's one of the coolest things about art - every work becomes something new for every person who experiences it.
ur future nurse is using chapgpt to glide thru school u better take care of urself
Yep. This is terrifying. I’ve caught nursing majors, engineering majors, architecture majors relying on ChatGPT to do their homework. These are people who need to know their field well to ensure people don’t die and they’re letting a glorified algorithm cheat them through school. It’s so dangerous
hey. hi. I work in academia. and there are a lot of student-age folks on this site.
don't do this. don't use genAI. even if your professors give you permission. even if they ask for it or suggest it. if they do anything short of directly requiring it (and I weep, because I've already seen assignments that require it) don't touch that crap. if they do require it, stick it to them. be as maliciously compliant as possible. be a nightmare.
I know it might sound easier right now -- just plug in your assignment and get the answers. you don't care about this class anyway, it's not for your major, you don't see the value of the assignment.
but for your own sake, for the sake of your education and mind, and for the sake of the future world we want to have: learn the stuff. you are not as stupid as the corporate bizzaro kings who want to rule the world think you are, so don't give them reasons to believe it.
and odds are good genAI is gonna give you corrupted info anyway -- more and moreso as the machines cannibalize themselves.
just don't do it. not even "I just do it for XYZ--" no. stop. there is no valid use of generative AI, and even using it for memes or lolz feeds the system and directly feeds the pockets of the people who want to replace you anyway.
You'd think people would be ashamed of using ChatGPT/AI to do their schoolwork for them, but in my experience, when caught they get defensive, aggressive, and totally non-apologetic. And because this is high school, their parents usually run to their defense, all guns blazing.
I have heard even educators say, "I mean, it's okay to use it for generating ideas...."
No. You are are human being. You have a mind. Come up with your own ideas. If you are incapable of coming up with your own ideas, then admit it, and either buckle down and learn how to think, or, if that doesn't appeal to you, then education obviously isn't something you're interested in, so bow out gracefully before you're kicked out ignominiously.
I'm currently in college, and I was speaking to this guy who was fixing my mom's phone about school. He asked me if I used AI for my assignments, and I said no, of course not. He told me that I should and tried to offer an argument for using it.
Listen, getting a topic idea from AI is different than having it write your entire essay, but even still, why the hell are you going to school at all if you're not even going to commit yourself to learning the material and completing the homework? What is even the point of you being there? The paycheck? Because a degree doesn't guarantee you a job, especially not if you used AI to cheat your way through school. If you're specifically in a profession that is meant to help people directly with their safety or health and you use AI to do all your assignments, frankly, shame on you. Shame on you, as a fellow student, as a fellow person aspiring to help people medically. Be better than that, and show that you care by actively engaging in your education. You obviously don't have to remember every little thing or whatever, but hell, at least care enough to do your own work instead of having a computer do it for you. You aren't learning that way; you're just submitting assignments. I understand the appeal, I really do, because being a college student is hell sometimes, but it's just not worth the expense of your ability to actually help people in the proper and safe ways. Imagine your doctor admitting to you that they used AI to get through medical school. Probably wouldn't instill confidence in you, would it?
Do your work in college because if you don't, you might regret it one day when you don't know how to do something that's extremely basic to everyone else within your chosen field. Or when you don't know what the right answers are for the upcoming test. You are a smart and capable human being. Even if you need a lot of help, you can do this.
