Nozomi woke slowly. At first, she thought it was the pale sunlight streaking across her pillow, but as she stirred further into consciousness, she felt a hand softly carding through her hair. Mumbling into her pillow, she petted the blankets until she found Eli’s fingers carefully detangling knots. The fingers stilled.
“Sorry,” Eli whispered. “Did I wake you?”
